Is a Vodafone Portugal SIM card a good choice for a visitor?

It is one of the clearer options, because Vodafone publishes a dedicated visitor eSIM page with prices and plan limits. On Vodafone's eSIM Portugal page, read on 8 October 2026, the plans are data only: no SMS or minutes. If you need a local number for calls, look at the prepaid SIMs below, or at the other Portuguese networks.

What does the Vodafone Portugal eSIM cost?

Prices as listed on 8 October 2026:

  • eSIM for Portugal and Europe, entry plan: 20 euros, 15 days, unlimited data in Portugal, with EEA and UK roaming data.
  • eSIM for Portugal and Europe, 30 days: 30 euros (shown as previously 35), 30 GB for the EEA and UK.
  • eSIM for Portugal and Europe, 30 days: 50 euros (previously 55), 55 GB for the EEA and UK.
  • eSIM for Portugal only: 10 euros (previously 15), 7 days, 10 GB, no roaming.

Two cautions. The Portugal-only price comes with a promotion shown as running until 31 August 2026 or while stock lasts, a date that has passed, so confirm the real price. And the FAQ gives larger roaming allowances than the plan cards (25 GB and 45 GB in place of the figures on the cards), so check the allowance at checkout.

The page says the eSIM arrives by email within minutes, you install it on arrival, validity starts at activation, and you must turn on data roaming for the eSIM. Plans include 5G data in Portugal on what it calls a 4G/5G network. It states no ID requirement. Support is on +351 911 691 200, free, 24 hours.

What about a physical Vodafone Portugal prepaid SIM?

Vodafone's online SIM shop lists EasyGo, which starts with 2.50 euros of credit and no mandatory top-ups, Ready with 55 GB or 95 GB and four weeks of tariff included, and a youth card. It also lists a Wi-Fi hotspot with 20 days of data for 49.90 euros. Prices for the first three were not shown, and the page does not state ID rules, 5G support or which shops sell the cards. For physical cards, ask in a store.
