Kazakhstan's verified eSIM floor is $0.98 a gigabyte — the same price Airalo charges in Hong Kong
Nine of Airalo's eighteen Kazakhstan plans cost exactly what the same plans cost in Hong Kong, and none of the rest differs by more than $1.50. All eighteen prices were read off the checkout on 17 August 2026.
One seller, eighteen prices, one date
We hold plan data for exactly one eSIM provider in Kazakhstan: Airalo. Eighteen plans, all verified, read off airalo.com on 17 August 2026. That is the whole of our Kazakhstan coverage, and it is not a market survey. Saily, Holafly, Nomad, eSIMCard and eSIM Go all sell travel eSIMs; none has been priced here yet, so none appears below with a figure beside it.
Airalo sells these plans under the name Kazaknet. That is Airalo's own retail label, not a carrier. Airalo publishes no host network for Kazakhstan, and none for any other country, so we cannot tell you which operator the eSIM attaches to once it is live.

Twelve metered plans, from 1 GB to 50 GB, with nothing above. The rate falls from $4.00 a gigabyte at the top to $0.98 at the bottom, and each step up buys its extra data more cheaply than the plan you are stepping off: 10 GB to 20 GB over 30 days is $10 for ten more gigabytes, and 20 GB to 50 GB over 30 days is $21 for thirty more, about 70 cents each.
The same prices as Hong Kong, to the cent
Four other markets were read the same afternoon: China, Hong Kong, Macau and Mongolia. All five carry the same 50 GB plan at the same $49 and the same 1 GB plan at the same $4, which is already a strong hint that the numbers are set centrally rather than locally.
Kazakhstan and Hong Kong go further than a hint.

Nine of the eighteen plans match to the cent, including four of the six unlimited tiers. On the nine that differ, the largest gap anywhere on the ladder is $1.50. One market is a city of a few hundred square miles; the other is the ninth-largest country on earth, most of it steppe. Their eSIM prices are effectively the same document.
The $49 goes wider still. Airalo charges it for 50 GB over 30 days in 18 of the 56 countries where we hold a 50 GB figure at all — Iceland, Colombia, South Korea, Indonesia and Bangladesh among them. That is a pricing policy, not a reading of what capacity costs in Kazakhstan.
For scale, $0.98 is mid-table on this site. Thailand's verified floor is $0.55 a gigabyte and Austria's $0.58, while Kenya sits at $4.60 and Fiji at $4.70, across the 94 countries now covered.
Unlimited, and where it loses
Six unlimited plans: $12.50 for 3 days, $20.50 for 5, $29.50 for 7, $35 for 10, $49 for 15 and $72.50 for 30.
Two comparisons decide most cases. Unlimited over 15 days is $49 — identical to the 50 GB plan, which runs for 30. And unlimited over 7 days is $29.50, which is $1.50 more than 20 GB over 30 days. Buying unlimited therefore means paying the same or more for a much shorter window, and it only pays off if you would clear the metered allowance well inside it.
At the short end the premium is smaller: 3 days unlimited at $12.50 is $5 above 3 GB over 3 days at $7.50. For a two-night stopover in Almaty or Astana that may be worth it simply to stop watching the counter.
Which plan for which trip
- A stopover. 3 GB over 3 days at $7.50, or the 3-day unlimited at $12.50.
- A week. 5 GB over 7 days at $10 if you are mostly on wifi; 10 GB over 7 days at $17 if you are navigating and streaming.
- Two weeks. 20 GB over 15 days at $27, at $1.35 a gigabyte.
- A month, or a phone feeding a laptop. 50 GB over 30 days at $49, the only Kazakhstan plan we hold under a dollar a gigabyte.
What this page does not cover
Kazakhstan is vast, and the question that matters for a long overland trip is coverage rather than price. We hold nothing on it: no coverage measurements, no tested connections, and no host network — Airalo does not publish one, so we cannot even tell you whose map to check. Treat it as an open question rather than trusting a page that answers it without having measured anything.
We hold no local SIM data either: no counter prices, no shop advice, no registration rules, no operator names. Nobody here has researched it, so the page says nothing about it.
And we have nothing for the other five sellers. If one of them beats $0.98 a gigabyte in Kazakhstan, we would not know it — and neither would a page that lists all six with figures nobody read. Airalo is the only provider whose Kazakhstan prices anyone here has read, so we cannot tell you whether Saily, Holafly, Nomad, eSIMCard or eSIM Go undercuts it. When someone has read their checkouts, the figures will arrive with a date attached.
Which Kazakh network does an Airalo eSIM use?
We do not know, and Airalo does not say. It publishes no host network for Kazakhstan or for any other country. Kazaknet, the name on the listing, is Airalo's own product label rather than an operator, so it tells you nothing about which network you attach to or how far its coverage reaches.
Why are Kazakhstan and Hong Kong priced the same?
We can only tell you that they are. Nine of the eighteen plans match to the cent, including 10 GB at $17, $17.50 and $18 across the three durations, and 50 GB at $49; nothing on the ladder differs by more than $1.50. Airalo does not publish how it sets country prices, so why two such different markets share a ladder is not something we can answer.
Is unlimited worth buying in Kazakhstan?
Usually not. Unlimited over 15 days is $49, exactly what the 50 GB plan costs for 30 days, and unlimited over 7 days is $29.50 against $28 for 20 GB over a full month. The short durations are the only ones with a case: 3 days unlimited at $12.50 is $5 more than 3 GB over the same period.
