eSIM Uganda prices: nothing above 10 GB, and the floor is $4.55 a gigabyte

Nine Airalo plans read off airalo.com on 8 October 2026. The rate runs from $4.55 a gigabyte at 10 GB to $7 at 1 GB, with no uncapped plan and nothing bigger than 10 GB.

What does an eSIM Uganda plan cost?

All the figures here come from Airalo, and only from Airalo. We have priced Airalo only for Uganda. We have not priced Saily, Holafly, Nomad, eSIMCard or eSIM Go here, so this is one seller's list, not a survey of the market and not a claim about the best eSIM across sellers. Nine Airalo plans, each read off airalo.com on 8 October 2026 and priced in US dollars, make up the whole eSIM Uganda list in our data. Airalo sells them under the product name Ugish!, which is its own retail label and not a mobile network.

The cheapest gigabyte is $4.55, from the 10 GB plan over 7 days at $45.50. The dearest is $7, from the 1 GB plan over 3 days. That is high. For comparison, Honduras on the same day starts at $1.90 and Bhutan at $2.45, so Uganda is one of the pricier places in our Airalo data. The list is also short, with nothing above 10 GB and no uncapped plan.

Which size should I buy?

With a ceiling of 10 GB on every eSIM Uganda plan, the advice that works in cheaper countries, buy the biggest plan, only half works. The 10 GB plans are the cheapest per gigabyte, at $4.55, $4.70 and $4.90 for 7, 15 and 30 days. But the jump to get there is steep: 5 GB over 7 days is $25 and 10 GB over 7 days is $45.50, so doubling the data costs $20.50 more.

That makes the 5 GB band the sensible middle for most trips. It runs $5 to $5.40 a gigabyte, and the 30-day version is only $2 more than the 7-day one. If your usage is light, 3 GB over 3 days at $16.50 is the cheap way in. The 1 GB plan at $7 is the worst rate on the list, a fine purchase only if you need almost nothing.

A few days. 3 GB over 3 days at $16.50.

A week. 5 GB over 7 days at $25 if you are careful, 10 GB at $45.50 if you are not.

A fortnight or more. 10 GB over 15 days at $47 or over 30 days at $49. These cost little more than the 7-day plan, so the longer window is nearly free.

Is a Uganda travel SIM from a local shop cheaper?

We have not priced one, so we cannot say. What public reporting tells us is that Uganda registers SIMs against identity documents. Reports from the Daily Monitor describe the Uganda Communications Commission requiring national IDs for citizens and passports for non-citizens, and cracking down on unregistered lines and street vending. Those articles date from 2017 to 2023 and the rules have changed several times, so check current requirements at an operator shop. An eSIM Uganda plan bought before you fly avoids the counter, though we do not know whether Airalo's Uganda plans carry any registration step, and the listing does not say.

What we do not know

Airalo publishes no host network in our data for Uganda: the network field is empty on every plan. We cannot name the carrier behind these plans and will not infer one from the product name. We have also not researched coverage outside the main towns, or whether the plans work for tethering. This is desk research from public pages; we have not tested these plans on a phone in Uganda.

For how this compares with other sellers and countries, see Airalo, the cheapest eSIM plans, the provider comparison, the Africa guide and how we test.

Common questions

What is the cheapest eSIM Uganda plan?

The 10 GB plan over 7 days at $45.50, which is $4.55 a gigabyte, the lowest rate among the nine Airalo plans we verified on 8 October 2026. We have not priced any other seller in Uganda, so this is the floor of one list only.

How much is a Uganda data plan for a week?

Airalo's 5 GB plan over 7 days is $25, or $5 a gigabyte. The 10 GB week is $45.50. A 3 GB plan lasting 7 days is $17. These were read on 8 October 2026 and can change, so check the checkout before you pay.

Is there an unlimited eSIM for Uganda?

Not in our data. Airalo's nine Uganda plans are all capped, from 1 GB up to 10 GB, with no uncapped option at any duration. If you expect to use more than 10 GB, this list does not give you a way to buy it.

Is Uganda expensive for eSIM data?

On our Airalo data, yes. The best rate is $4.55 a gigabyte against $1.90 in Honduras and $2.45 in Bhutan. We have not priced other sellers in Uganda, so we cannot say whether they are cheaper, only that Airalo's list is high.

Do I need my passport to buy a Uganda travel SIM?

For a physical SIM, Daily Monitor reports say non-citizens must present a passport to register. Those reports are from 2017 to 2023 and rules have changed, so confirm with the operator. We do not know whether Airalo's Uganda eSIM has its own registration step.
