eSIM Maldives prices: two Airalo plans, both 20 GB for 30 days, $5 apart
Airalo lists two Maldives plans in our data, read on 8 October 2026: the same size and duration at $40 and $45. That is a very small list, and this page says what it can and cannot tell you.
What does eSIM Maldives cost on Airalo?
All the figures here come from Airalo, and only from Airalo. We have priced Airalo only for the Maldives. We have not priced Saily, Holafly, Nomad, eSIMCard or eSIM Go here, so this is one seller's list, not a survey of the market and not a claim about the best eSIM across sellers. Our data holds exactly two Airalo plans for an eSIM Maldives trip, both read off airalo.com on 8 October 2026 and priced in US dollars. Both are 20 GB for 30 days under the same product name, Maldives Tourist eSIM. One costs $40, which is $2 a gigabyte. The other costs $45, or $2.25 a gigabyte.
That is a short list, and the honest reading is short too. Our data does not say why two plans with the same size, duration and name carry different prices. It could be a different product behind the same label, or a regional variant; we do not know, and Airalo's listing as we read it does not explain. If you are choosing between them, check what the checkout shows before paying.
What the thin data tells you, and what it does not
It tells you that the cheapest eSIM Maldives plan from Airalo that we hold is $40 for 20 GB over 30 days. It tells you there is no 1 GB or 5 GB option in our data, so a traveller who needs two days of maps pays the same for a month of data. It tells you there is no uncapped plan.
It does not tell you which is right for a short island trip. Twenty gigabytes is generous for a week in a resort, and since the only window is 30 days, a week-long stay leaves most of the plan unused. It also does not tell you how Airalo compares with the two local operators, because we have not priced them.
Is a Maldives travel SIM cheaper than an eSIM Maldives plan?
Possibly, but we have not checked prices, so we will not claim it. What public sources say about the practicalities: the Maldives has two mobile operators, Dhiraagu and Ooredoo. According to maldives.com, both sell physical SIMs at Velana International Airport, Dhiraagu through a business centre at the exit from international arrivals and a SIM vending machine, Ooredoo through an airport outlet. A passport is needed to register a SIM.
The same guide says both operators also sell tourist eSIMs through their own websites, and that Dhiraagu's eSIM sign-up asks for a passport upload and a selfie. It describes nationwide 4G, 5G limited to a few larger places, and patchier signal on ferries and boats between islands. Resort and guesthouse Wi-Fi is common, so a Maldives data plan matters most for transfers, excursions and the days you leave the resort.
What to know before you buy
Check your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM, and install the profile on Wi-Fi before you leave. Airalo publishes no host network in our data for the Maldives: the network field is empty on every plan. We cannot name the carrier behind these plans and will not infer one from the product name. We have not tested either plan on a phone in the Maldives; this is desk research from public listings.
For how this compares with other sellers and countries, see Airalo, the cheapest eSIM plans, the provider comparison, the Asia guide and how we test.
Common questions
What is the cheapest eSIM Maldives plan?
The cheaper of the two Airalo plans we hold: 20 GB over 30 days at $40, or $2 a gigabyte, read on 8 October 2026. The other plan is the same size and duration at $45. We have not priced any other seller for the Maldives.
Why are there two Maldives plans with the same size and different prices?
We do not know. Both are listed as Maldives Tourist eSIM, 20 GB for 30 days, at $40 and $45. Our data does not say what separates them, and we will not guess. Compare them at checkout before paying.
Can I buy a smaller eSIM for the Maldives from Airalo?
Not in our data. Both plans we hold are 20 GB for 30 days, with no 1 GB, 3 GB or 5 GB option and no uncapped plan. If you only need a few gigabytes for a short trip, this list gives you no cheaper way to buy less.
Can I get a local SIM or eSIM in the Maldives instead?
Yes. maldives.com says Dhiraagu and Ooredoo both sell tourist SIMs at Velana International Airport and tourist eSIMs online, with a passport needed for registration. We have not priced them, so we cannot say whether they are cheaper than Airalo's $40.
