eSIM Bhutan prices: the cheapest gigabyte needs 20 GB, and a longer plan costs less

Sixteen Airalo plans read off airalo.com on 8 October 2026. The rate runs from $2.45 a gigabyte at 20 GB over 30 days to $5.50 at 1 GB, with a 15-day plan dearer than the 30-day one.

What does an eSIM Bhutan plan cost?

All the figures here come from Airalo, and only from Airalo. We have priced Airalo only for Bhutan. We have not priced Saily, Holafly, Nomad, eSIMCard or eSIM Go here, so this is one seller's list, not a survey of the market and not a claim about the best eSIM across sellers. Sixteen Airalo plans, read off airalo.com on 8 October 2026 and priced in US dollars, make up the eSIM Bhutan list in our data. Airalo sells them under the name Paro, its own retail label, not a mobile network.

The cheapest gigabyte is $2.45, from the 20 GB plan over 30 days at $49. The dearest is $5.50, from the 1 GB plan over 3 days. That is a 2.2-fold spread, and the floor is not low: you only reach it by committing to 20 GB.

3 GB / 3 days$11.50$3.83
3 GB / 7 days$12.50$4.17

10 GB / 30 days$36$3.60
20 GB / 15 days$53$2.65
20 GB / 30 days$49$2.45

Uncapped plans: $26 for 3 days, $39 for 5 days, $50 for 7 days, $65 for 10 days, $99 for 15 days.

Why is the 30-day plan cheaper than the 15-day one?

Two oddities in this table are worth reading before you buy. At 20 GB, the 15-day plan is $53 and the 30-day plan is $49. The longer plan costs $4 less, so a two-week trip should still buy the 30-day one. We cannot explain it, only report it.

At 10 GB the reverse happens. The 7-day plan is $29.50, the 15-day is $32.50 and the 30-day is $36, a $6.50 gap for the longer window. So the cheap long window exists at 20 GB and nowhere else.

Which size should I buy?

Bhutan trips tend to be organised and short, which pushes an eSIM Bhutan buyer toward the middle of the list. 5 GB over 7 days at $17 is $3.40 a gigabyte; 10 GB over 7 days at $29.50 is $2.95. The step from 5 GB to 10 GB costs $12.50 and doubles the data, which is the best-value move in the week-long band. The 20 GB month at $49 costs $19.50 more than the 10 GB week, so buy it only if you will really use the extra data.

The uncapped plans are costly, from $26 for 3 days to $99 for 15 days. We cannot justify them against $49 for 20 GB.

What to know before you buy an eSIM Bhutan plan or travel SIM

Public guides say Bhutan has two operators, B-Mobile, run by state-owned Bhutan Telecom, and the privately owned TashiCell. One guide, last updated in March 2024, reports that a tourist SIM needs a passport and a photo, is valid for one month and cannot be extended. It also notes that TashiCell uses a low band (700 MHz) that some phones lack, and that coverage outside Thimphu and Paro is patchier. Treat it as a pointer to check, not current fact.

Airalo publishes no host network in our data for Bhutan: the network field is empty on every plan. We cannot name the carrier behind these plans and will not infer one from the product name. We have not researched local SIM prices and have not tested these plans on a phone in Bhutan.

Common questions

What is the cheapest eSIM Bhutan plan?

The 20 GB plan over 30 days at $49, which is $2.45 a gigabyte, the lowest rate among sixteen Airalo plans we verified on 8 October 2026. We have not priced any other seller in Bhutan, so this is the floor of one list only.

How much is a Bhutan data plan for one week?

Airalo's 10 GB plan over 7 days costs $29.50, or $2.95 a gigabyte, and its 5 GB week costs $17. The 3 GB week is $12.50. Prices were read on 8 October 2026 and can change, so check the checkout before you pay.

Why is the 30-day 20 GB Bhutan plan cheaper than the 15-day one?

We cannot say. In our 8 October 2026 data, 20 GB over 15 days costs $53 and 20 GB over 30 days costs $49. It means a two-week trip should buy the 30-day plan. At 10 GB the longer window costs more.

Is there an unlimited eSIM for Bhutan?

Yes, from Airalo, in five durations: $26 for 3 days, $39 for 5, $50 for 7, $65 for 10 and $99 for 15. These cost far more than the 20 GB plan at $49, so they suit only heavy users.

Can tourists buy a local SIM in Bhutan?

A 2024 travel guide says tourists can buy a one-month SIM from B-Mobile or TashiCell using a passport and photo. We could not confirm this against an operator site, so check with the carrier. We have not priced local SIMs.
