Turkcell Turkey SIM card: what the Turkish-language site says for visitors

Turkcell's site is in Turkish and has no tourist page that we found. We read its prepaid, eSIM and 5G pages on 8 October 2026 to see what a visitor can learn.

Is a Turkcell Turkey SIM card a good choice for a visitor?

It might be, but Turkcell's site does not tell a visitor how. On 8 October 2026 the home page we read was Turkish only, with no English or tourist page that we found, and its prepaid and eSIM pages never mention foreign nationals or passports. A Turkcell Turkey SIM card is a fine product for people who live in Turkey. For a visitor, the signal to watch is how smoothly a shop counter handles a foreign passport. If you want certainty before landing, a travel eSIM is safer.

What does Turkcell's prepaid line cost?

Turkcell's prepaid ("faturasız") page lists plans in Turkish lira. As shown on 8 October 2026:

  • Fırsat 1 GB: 1 GB, 1,000 minutes, 500 SMS, 450 TL for 4 weeks
  • Hepsi 8 + 3 GB: 8 GB, 1,200 minutes, 750 SMS, 700 TL for 4 weeks
  • Mega Fırsat 30 GB: 30 GB, 5,000 minutes, 2,500 SMS, 1,700 TL for 3 months
  • Faturasız Mobil Wifi 25 GB: 25 GB, 450 TL for 3 months

These are everyday prepaid tariffs, not a visitor pack. Prices change; read the page before buying.

How do you get the line, and is there an eSIM?

The page says sign-up is handled in the Turkcell app or on turkcell.com.tr. You can port your number, which the page says takes about 72 hours, or choose a new one. With an eSIM-capable phone you can activate digitally through e-Devlet, the Turkish government services portal. Without one, you can get a physical SIM by courier, in a store or through e-Devlet. The eSIM page adds that individuals can get the QR code in the app without visiting a store.

The pages we read give no document rule and do not say whether a visitor can use the e-Devlet route. Assume you will need a shop and your passport, and ask.

What does Turkcell say about 5G?

Turkcell's 5G page says it leads in 5G coverage and speed. It says nationwide availability was planned from 1 April 2026, that its standalone 5G+ works only in 5G+ areas, and that elsewhere the phone moves between 5G and 4.5G. These are Turkcell's own claims, and the page gives no coverage percentage.

Turkcell Turkey SIM card or a travel eSIM?

A travel eSIM is installed before you fly and needs no Turkish app or portal. Turkcell may suit a long stay. See our Turkey SIM comparison. Other operators: Türk Telekom, which has a tourist page, and Vodafone Turkey.
