eSIMCard Sweden: a blank in our data, and what to buy instead

No eSIMCard plans for Sweden, and a pattern worth noting

Our data holds no eSIMCard plan for Sweden at any size. eSIMCard had the second-widest footprint of the six providers we track — 31 of 94 countries — so its absence here was never the usual thin-catalogue story.

The pattern is regional. Across the Nordics, the only country where we ever held an eSIMCard plan was Iceland. Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden are all blank. That may be a gap in eSIMCard's catalogue or a gap in our capture, and we are not going to guess which. Either way, we have no Swedish price to show you and will not print one.

An earlier version of this page also named Telia as eSIMCard's Swedish host network. We hold no host network for eSIMCard here. That claim traced back to the same generated text whose prices, when checked against providers' own sites, proved unreliable, and naming a carrier on that basis is the specific mistake this site has already had to correct across dozens of pages.

Why we hold no eSIMCard price anywhere now

This blank used to be specific to Sweden. It no longer is. We carried 78 eSIMCard rows across 31 countries; on 18 August 2026 we read eSIMCard's own pages and found them wrong, and every one of those rows has been withdrawn from the tables and from the cheapest-per-gigabyte ranking.

We could not replace them with the right figures either. eSIMCard prices the same size over the same duration at two or three different amounts, depending on a Standard/Universal toggle, a per-plan speed limit hidden inside each plan's details modal, and carrier sets that vary plan by plan. Our records hold only provider, size, days and price, so any single figure we stored would flatten a throttled plan and a full-speed one into one row. Our eSIMCard page sets out the reasoning.

None of that is a verdict on the shop. eSIMCard has a working checkout, a catalogue far wider than our rows ever showed, and it is the only one of the six sellers here that publishes the host network its plans use — its Japan page names three Japanese operators, where Airalo, Nomad, Saily and Holafly name none anywhere. What we have no read of is its Sweden listing, which is why this page still prices the market instead.

First question: do you need to buy anything?

Sweden is in the EU, so if your phone is on an EU or EEA plan you already have roam-like-at-home and a travel eSIM is money spent on nothing. That covers a large share of visitors. UK and non-European travellers are the ones for whom the rest of this page matters.

Second question: how much is skipping the counter worth to you? Swedish prepaid SIMs have to be registered against ID — passport, form, counter check — a requirement in force since August 2022, so the usual practical reason travellers reach for an eSIM applies here as it does elsewhere in Europe. Airport packs run about $10. We do not hold the data allowance attached to that price, so treat it as a starting point to ask about rather than a comparison.

What Sweden costs from the providers we do hold

Sorted by the shape of trip rather than by gigabytes, because that is how the decision actually gets made. Airalo's prices were read from its own site on 13 August 2026 and are sold under its "Vän" package; the rest are indicative figures held in our data without a recent check.

The absolute cheapest entry into Sweden is Saily's $3.99 for 1GB over seven days, a penny under Airalo's $4 for 1GB over three. Both are checked prices. Above that the two are inseparable: Saily's checked prices are $9.99 against Airalo's $10 for 5GB over 30 days, and $15.99 against $16 for 10GB. This page previously put Saily at $12.99 and $19.99 for those plans, on figures never read off Saily.

Only one provider in our Sweden data sells unlimited on a long window, and that is Holafly. It does not publish a host network either: the operators our data once carried on five of its seven Sweden rows came from our own older text rather than from Holafly.

Coverage: good enough that the brand barely matters

Telia has the widest 4G and 5G population coverage and the strongest rural and archipelago reach. Tele2 and Telenor share the Net4Mobility network and turned on 5G across their full footprint in September 2025, covering 99.9% of the population and 90% of the landmass. The national average sits around 75 Mbps.

Where it thins is predictable and specific: Lapland wilderness and fjäll above the treeline, remote archipelago islands, dense forest in Dalarna and Norrland away from roads, and some cross-country ski trails cutting through remote forest. If your itinerary is Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö and the trains between them, none of this will trouble you.

Because no travel eSIM in our data lets you pick which Swedish network you land on — and for Airalo, Nomad and Saily we hold no network at all — a trip that genuinely depends on far-north signal is an argument for a local SIM, where you can choose Telia deliberately.

The verdict

We cannot review a product we hold no data for, and there is nothing honest to say beyond that. If eSIMCard quotes you a Sweden plan directly, judge it on three numbers: price per gigabyte against the $1.50 to $2 band that Airalo's verified plans set below 10GB, whether the validity window covers your whole trip, and whether tethering is included. Do not judge it on a claimed network, from eSIMCard or anyone else, unless the provider publishes that itself.
