Tele2 Sweden SIM card: its prepaid cards are sold as Comviq
The prepaid we could read is Comviq's, with plans from 59 kr. Registration is mandatory, and Comviq says some resellers accept foreign ID.
Is a Tele2 Sweden SIM card a good choice for a visitor?
For prepaid, the page we could read is Comviq's, not Tele2's own. Tele2's kontantkort page did not load for us on 8 October 2026. Comviq's pages show it shares its 4G network with Tele2 and Telenor and that Amigos plans include free calls to Comviq and Tele2 numbers. They do not explain the ownership relationship, so we do not assert it. What follows is from Comviq's prepaid page and its coverage page.
What prepaid plans and prices does it show?
Prices in kronor, as listed on 8 October 2026:
- Fastpris, 7 days: 59 kr for 1 GB.
- Fastpris, 30 days: from 119 kr for 3 GB, 159 for 5 GB, 199 for 10 GB, 249 for 20 GB, up to 419 for 250 GB. Free calls and texts in Sweden, and up to 50 GB of data in the EU/EES. 5G is included.
- Amigos, 30 days: 69 kr for 1 GB, 100 kr for 2 GB, 200 kr for 5 GB, with cheap calls abroad.
- Standard, 12 months: 100 kr for 0.2 GB, 250 kr for 1 GB.
For a holiday, the 7-day Fastpris or one of the 30-day plans is the fit. The page also lists a Boost add-on for unlimited data in Sweden and a mobile broadband plan with no calls.
How does a tourist register it?
Since 1 February 2023 every prepaid card in Sweden must be registered, and you must register before you can top up. Online, that means BankID or a photo ID checked through Veriff. At a reseller you can use BankID, Veriff, a valid ID such as a driving licence, passport or ID card, or an LMA card. The page lists resellers including ATG agents, ICA, Pressbyrån, 7-Eleven, Circle K and OKQ8, and says some accept foreign ID. So a passport route exists, but confirm at the till.
You order the card free on the page, which suggests delivery; the page does not say whether it delivers to a foreign address. eSIM is linked but not described.
What does it say about coverage and Tele2 5G?
Comviq says its 4G reaches 99.9 percent of Sweden's population and up to 80 Mbit/s, with a map of estimated coverage. It says 2G and 3G were shut down in December 2025. It gives no 5G coverage figures, though Fastpris includes 5G.
Tele2 or a travel eSIM?
A travel eSIM installed before you fly avoids the registration step entirely. Prepaid suits longer stays. Other networks: Telia, Telenor Sweden and Three (Tre). Our Sweden SIM card comparison lays out the options and the Sweden hub has the rest. Travel eSIM prices are on the cheapest eSIM page.
