Telenor Sweden SIM card: what we could and could not read

Telenor Sweden sells prepaid cards, but its prepaid pages loaded as titles only for us. We can report the registration rule only through search excerpts.

Is a Telenor Sweden SIM card a good choice for a visitor?

We cannot give a firm answer, because Telenor Sweden's prepaid pages loaded as titles only on 8 October 2026: the product page, the support page, and the registration page. The points below come from excerpts shown in search results for Telenor's own pages, not from full pages we read. Treat them as leads and confirm on Telenor's prepaid page.

What do the excerpts say about registering?

Telenor says Swedish law requires every prepaid card, whatever the operator, to be registered to a user, and that since 1 February 2023 cards must be registered to be topped up. An excerpt from a Telenor reseller page describes registering by sending REG plus a personal number to 222, which a tourist has none of. Another excerpt says cards bought on telenor.se are registered automatically at purchase. A registration page title says it is easy via BankID. We found nothing on a passport route for foreigners, so ask in a Telenor shop before relying on it.

What about eSIM, EU use and prices?

Excerpts say eSIM for prepaid can be ordered through the Telenor Ladda app, and that a Telenor card works as at home across the EU/EES, with standard prices in most other countries. A page for the Hello prepaid card gave 1 GB for 100 kr and 10 GB for 250 kr for 31 days, but the page was old, so we do not offer those as current. We read no current prices.

What about Telenor Sweden coverage and 5G?

Comviq's coverage page says it shares its 4G network with Tele2 and Telenor, which suggests Telenor's network is the same shared one in Sweden. Telenor's own pages did not load, so we have no Telenor-stated coverage or 5G figure. Our network notes say Tele2 and Telenor switched on 5G across their network in September 2025, which we have not confirmed on either site.

Telenor prepaid or a travel eSIM?

Given the registration step and the pages we could not confirm, a travel eSIM installed before you fly is the more predictable choice for a short visit. Other Swedish networks: Telia, Tele2 and Three (Tre). Our Sweden SIM card comparison lays out the options and the Sweden hub has the rest. Travel eSIM prices are on the cheapest eSIM page.
