Nomad in Sweden: ten plans, and one that is worth buying

Ten plans, and a correction

Nomad's Sweden range is wider than we used to describe it: six metered bundles and four unlimited passes, most of them running 30 days.

An earlier version of this page said Nomad sold four plans here, nothing under 5GB and no unlimited, on prices nobody had read off Nomad's own site. All of that was wrong. The prices below were read from Nomad's own site on 17 August 2026.

On top of those, unlimited runs $11 for three days, $18 for five, $25 for seven and $33 for ten.

The 50GB row used to read $29 on this page, and at 58 cents a gigabyte we called it the cheapest rate in our entire Sweden dataset. The real price is $45 — 90 cents a gigabyte, and dearer than Airalo's verified 50GB at $42. The cheapest gigabyte in Sweden is Airalo's, and this page said otherwise for as long as the wrong figure stood.

Worth knowing before you read any of these as Swedish prices: $4.50 / $9 / $12.50 / $16 / $20 / $45 is the exact ladder Nomad charges in twelve other European countries, from Ireland to Bulgaria. It is a tiering policy, not a reading of Swedish wholesale costs.

Where Nomad actually beats the alternative

Airalo's Sweden prices were read from its own site on 13 August 2026, sold under its "Vän" package. Both providers are now verified, so this is a like-for-like comparison at matching sizes and matching 30-day windows:

• 5GB: Nomad $12.50, Airalo $10
• 10GB: Nomad $16, Airalo $16
• 20GB: Nomad $20, Airalo $27
• 50GB: Nomad $45, Airalo $42

One win, one draw, two losses. The win is at 20GB and it is a real one — 26% off the month, on plans of identical size and validity. The draw at 10GB is exact. At the sizes either side of the win, Airalo is ahead.

There is one point in Nomad's favour that a per-gigabyte table hides. Airalo charges $9 for 5GB over seven days; Nomad charges the same $9 for 3GB over thirty. If your trip runs longer than a week and your usage is modest, that shape is worth more than the two gigabytes.

What Nomad sells here that we said it did not

Unlimited, at four durations: $11 for three days, $18 for five, $25 for seven, $33 for ten. Every one undercuts Airalo's verified equivalent — $11.50, $19.50, $27 and $34.50 — so if you want to stop counting for a week or less, this is the cheapest verified way to do it. Nomad stops at ten days; Airalo runs to thirty at $69.

Short windows, too. The 1GB plan runs seven days at $4.50 and is the only Nomad plan here shorter than a month. For a weekend on maps and messaging it is enough, though Saily's $3.99 for 1GB over the same seven days undercuts it on a checked price, and Airalo's verified $6.50 buys 3GB over three.

The network, and what we will not tell you

Nomad does not publish which Swedish network its plans roam onto. Our data holds no host network for it, and we are not going to work one out from the country's operator map. An earlier version of this page named Telia and Tele2; there was no source for that, and it has been removed.

The same is true of Airalo, Saily and Holafly; the network our data once carried against Holafly's Sweden rows came from our own older text rather than from Holafly. So the choice between the four is a choice on price, allowance and validity — not on coverage, which nobody here can promise you.

What we can say about Sweden's networks generally: Telia has the widest 4G and 5G population coverage and the best rural and archipelago reach, while Tele2 and Telenor share the Net4Mobility network, live with 5G across its full footprint since September 2025 at 99.9% of the population and 90% of the landmass. National average speeds run around 75 Mbps, and the honest coverage gaps are narrow — Lapland wilderness and fjäll above the treeline, remote archipelago islands, dense forest in Dalarna and Norrland away from roads, and some cross-country ski trails.

Should you buy the 50GB plan?

No. At $45 it is not the cheapest gigabyte in Sweden and not even the cheapest 50GB — Airalo sells the same size over the same month for $42, verified. The reason we used to give for buying it has been withdrawn.

The volume argument was always thin anyway. Ordinary travel use — maps, messaging, ride-hailing, social apps, some music — runs to a few gigabytes a week. Two weeks in Sweden on that pattern is comfortably inside 10GB. You would need to be streaming video daily, working off a tethered laptop, or supporting a family off one connection to get near 50GB in a month, and Nomad does support tethering on its plans, so that last case is at least possible.

For most people the right size here is 10GB or less, and at those sizes Airalo matches Nomad or beats it.

Verdict

Nomad has one metered plan worth crossing the room for in Sweden: 20GB at $20, which is $7 below Airalo for an identical month. Its unlimited passes are the cheapest verified ones at every duration up to ten days. Everywhere else Airalo matches it or undercuts it, and the 50GB plan that used to be the whole argument for this page costs $45, not $29.

Also check whether you need to buy at all — an EU or EEA plan roams in Sweden at home rates, and a local prepaid SIM costs about $10 at the airport, though it has to be registered against your passport. The full comparison is on our Sweden hub.
