Bali: the south is covered, the rest depends on your network

Bali is two islands as far as your phone is concerned

South Bali — Seminyak, Canggu, Kuta, Sanur, Nusa Dua — is well covered on most carriers. If your trip is a beach club, a surf lesson and a villa within twenty minutes of the airport, any plan on this page works and you can stop reading after the price table.

North Bali, east Bali and the inland rice terrace areas around Tegalalang and Sidemen are where it changes. Coverage there begins to show gaps on networks other than Telkomsel. That is the single fact that shapes every decision below, and it is a fact about Indonesian networks rather than about any particular eSIM.

Ubud sits inland and at elevation, and lands somewhere in between. The town itself and the main rice terrace walks are generally fine. The surrounding jungle and river gorges go patchy, and Telkomsel reaches further into them than the alternatives do.

Nusa Penida

The island thirty minutes by fast boat from Sanur is one of Indonesia's fastest-growing destinations, and Kelingking Beach is one of its most photographed places. Telkomsel covers the main areas. The interior roads are rough and the infrastructure is still catching up with the visitor numbers, so download offline maps before you get on the boat rather than after you land.

Grab and GoJek are the reason to over-buy data

GoJek and Grab are the standard transport apps in Bali, and GoRide — the motorbike option — is the most practical way to move through Bali's traffic, because a driver who knows the side roads can turn a forty-minute car journey into fifteen. Both need an active data connection to work.

Unlicensed transport approaches are common in tourist areas. Booking through Grab or GoJek gives you a verified driver and a tracked ride, and that is worth more than the two dollars you would save on a smaller data allowance. Running out of data in Bali is not an inconvenience; it is the difference between a booked ride and negotiating with whoever is standing at the kerb.

What we can and cannot tell you about the networks

Telkomsel has by far the widest geographic reach in Indonesia. Getting onto it through a travel eSIM is a separate question, and the honest answer is that we do not have confirmation for any provider.

Holafly names nothing. This page used to give it Telkomsel, which came from our own data; Holafly publishes no host carrier for any country — we read its prices for 28 of them off esim.holafly.com on 18 August 2026 and not one names an operator. Nomad publishes no host network here or anywhere else; an earlier version of this page said it named Telkomsel, and that claim has been withdrawn. Airalo does not publish a host network for Indonesia — its plans are sold under the product name Indotel, which is Airalo's own branding rather than an operator. An earlier version of this page said Airalo's Bali plan ran on Telkomsel at $11 for 10 GB. Both halves of that were wrong, and it is a fair illustration of why we now label what we have checked.

Saily, eSIM Go and eSIMCard publish nothing either. Saily's own pages promise a reliable connection from Indonesia's best networks and stop there.

What to buy

The Airalo rows were read from Airalo's site on 13 August 2026, the Saily rows from Saily's on 16 August, and the Nomad rows from Nomad's on 17 August. An earlier version of this table carried the Nomad prices several dollars below these, on figures nobody had checked.

Two things stand out. Nomad is the cheapest verified seller at every size, though only by a dollar or two — its 10 GB month at $19 against Airalo's $21 and Saily's $21.99 — and the cheapest rate in the whole country is at the top of the ladder, where Nomad's 50 GB over 45 days at $41 works out at 82 cents a gigabyte and Airalo's verified 50 GB at $49 comes to 98 cents. Saily is the one to avoid here: we previously carried its 10 GB month at $14.99, and the real price is $21.99.

Then there is the local SIM, which in Indonesia is genuinely the strong option. A typical Indonesian airport SIM costs about $5, which no travel eSIM on this list beats, and it puts you on a local network directly rather than through an unconfirmed roaming arrangement. The catch is registration: Indonesia requires your passport, so it is a counter transaction with paperwork rather than something you tap through on the plane. If you want to land connected and sort out a local SIM afterwards, a small eSIM for the first day or two is a reasonable hedge.
