Holafly in Indonesia: unlimited from $11.90, and two things it will not do

What it costs

All unlimited. We read these off esim.holafly.com on 18 August 2026.

This is a different product from the one this page used to describe. The old version listed a one-day plan at $3.90, five days at $13.90, ten at $20.90, thirty at $46.90 and ninety at $139.90, and built its whole argument on that $3.90 day being the lowest daily unlimited rate in our Indonesia data. None of those prices was ever read off Holafly. There is no one-day plan and no 90-day plan — Holafly sells six lengths in every country and the shortest is three days — and the ten-day plan is $36.50 rather than $20.90.

The second thing that changes is the idea that Indonesia was cheap for Holafly. It is not. This is the identical six-price ladder Holafly charges in Japan, France, Germany, Greece, the UK, Turkey, Portugal and the Netherlands, to the cent. Indonesia gets no discount for being a cheap market.

The per-day column is worth reading rather than skimming. The rate does not fall smoothly: five days actually costs more per day than three, and the only real drop is at thirty days. If you want ten days of unlimited data, ten days is what to buy — buying five twice costs $41 against $36.50.

The network, which is the part that has gone

This page used to be headed "the network is the strong part" and told you that Holafly listed Telkomsel and XL by name, that Telkomsel access was the thing worth paying for in Indonesia, and that knowing which carrier you were on was worth something on an island itinerary. All of that has been withdrawn.

Holafly does not publish a host network. Not for Indonesia, and not for any of the 28 countries whose prices we read on 18 August 2026. The Telkomsel and XL attribution came from our own dataset, not from Holafly, and we have removed it rather than restate it as an unconfirmed claim — a carrier name in front of a reader choosing a plan for its coverage does its work whether or not it is hedged.

The underlying coverage fact is unchanged and still matters: Telkomsel has by far the widest geographic reach across Indonesia's islands, and reaches more remote ones than the other carriers combined. What has changed is that no travel eSIM sold for Indonesia — Holafly, Airalo, Saily, Nomad or eSIMCard — will tell you whether that is what you are getting, and eSIM Go has no consumer page on which it could. If being on Telkomsel is the point, buy a Telkomsel SIM.

National average speed is around 25 Mbps, which is the ceiling regardless of provider.

The break-even maths

Unlimited only wins if you actually consume enough to beat a capped plan, and Indonesia is a cheap market, so the bar is higher than it looks — and higher than this page used to say, because the real prices are roughly twice what we had.

The cheapest rate we hold for the country is Nomad's 50 GB, 45-day plan at $41 — 82 cents a gigabyte. Measured against that:

• 10 days at $36.50 needs about 44 GB inside ten days to break even
• 30 days at $73.90 needs about 90 GB, or three gigabytes every day for a month

For comparison, Nomad sells 10 GB over 30 days for a verified $19. See our eSIM Go page.) A traveller who uses ten gigabytes in a month — maps, messaging, a reasonable amount of scrolling — pays $19 there against $73.90 here. That is not twice the price for data they will not use, as this page used to say. It is nearly four times.

Unlimited earns its money for people who stream constantly, video-call daily, and upload footage. On these prices it does not earn its money for anyone else.

The hotspot problem

Holafly does not permit tethering in Indonesia. No hotspot, at any plan length.

This is the second decisive limitation, and it lands hardest on exactly the group the pricing seems designed for. A remote worker in Canggu who wants unlimited mobile data as a backup to patchy villa Wi-Fi is a plausible Holafly customer — but only if the work happens on a phone. The moment a laptop is involved, the plan cannot do the job.

If you tether, look at Nomad or Airalo instead, both of which allow it. Airalo also sells unlimited here, and more cheaply: $11 for three days against $11.90, $19 for five against $20.50, $27 for seven against $27.50, $34 for ten against $36.50, $48 for fifteen against $50.50 and $69 for thirty against $73.90. It is cheaper at every single length Holafly sells, and it permits hotspot.

Who it actually suits

Almost nobody, on these numbers. Buy Holafly for Indonesia only if you use a very large amount of mobile data, work and browse entirely on your phone, and specifically want Holafly — because Airalo sells the same six durations of unlimited data for less at every one of them, and lets you tether.

Skip it if you tether a laptop, if your monthly usage is anywhere near a normal traveller's ten gigabytes, or if you are choosing on network, because Holafly names none.

The stopgap use this page used to recommend — a cheap single day between longer plans — is gone with the single-day plan. The shortest thing Holafly sells for Indonesia is three days at $11.90.
