Saily in Indonesia: verified prices well above every rival

Five plans, verified, and dearer than we used to say

Saily is the travel eSIM brand from Nord Security. Its Indonesia menu was read off Saily's own site on 16 August 2026:

These replace the figures this page carried until now, which were indicative and, at 10GB, wrong by 47% in Saily's favour. We had told readers a 10GB month cost $14.99. It costs $21.99. Anyone who chose Saily on this page for a long stay was choosing on a price that did not exist, and the recommendation that followed from it has been withdrawn.

Airalo's Indonesia prices below were verified on 13 August 2026 and Nomad's on 18 August. The entry plan is no longer the cheapest, but it is still the longest

$4.79 buys 1GB with a full week to spend it. Airalo's verified 1GB is $4.50, twenty-nine cents less, but it expires in three days. If your trip is two or three nights in Jakarta or Yogyakarta, Airalo is the cheaper buy. If you want a week, Saily's extra four days for twenty-nine cents is the best-value stretch of its Indonesian range and the only tier where it is worth considering at all.

Worth knowing at that end of the market: Holafly lists an unlimited one-day plan at $3.90 on indicative pricing, which for a single hard day of use beats a gigabyte outright.

Above 1GB it is the most expensive option in the country

At every size from 3GB up, Saily is dearer than everything else we hold — including Airalo, whose Indonesia prices are verified and which is usually the premium name in this field.

Against verified prices only, the picture barely improves: Nomad's verified 5GB month is $12 and Airalo's $13.50, Nomad's 10GB $19 and Airalo's $21. Saily is above all four, and both ladders keep going to 50GB — Nomad at $41 over 45 days, or 82 cents a gigabyte, and Airalo at $49, against Saily's best rate of $1.80.

The 10GB tier is where this hurts most, because a 10GB month is what a two-to-four week trip usually buys. $21.99 against a $19 verified price from Nomad is not a rounding error. There is nothing in the product to account for it: same 30-day validity, same hotspot support, same unpublished network.

The network question, answered honestly

An earlier version of this page told you Saily's Indonesia plan ran on Telkomsel and recommended it on that basis. Reading Saily's own site settles it: Saily names no host carrier anywhere, for Indonesia or any other country, promising only a reliable connection from the country's best networks. The claim had no source and the recommendation built on it has been withdrawn.

The knock-on is worth stating plainly. If you were choosing Saily over a cheaper plan because of the carrier, there is no reason left to pay the extra. Nothing in our data distinguishes these products on coverage, because none of them says what it runs on.

Coverage facts that do not depend on the provider: service is dependable across southern Bali, the main Lombok towns, Yogyakarta, Jakarta and Makassar, and it thins out fast beyond them. Most of the 17,000-plus islands have no signal at all, and the remote Raja Ampat dive sites, the Flores interior, most of Papua, interior Kalimantan and the Sumatra highlands are blank on every network.

The local SIM undercuts all of it

A prepaid tourist SIM costs around $5 at the airport in Indonesia — Telkomsel, XL Axiata, Indosat Ooredoo, Smartfren and Three are all sold there — and generally comes with more data than Saily's $13.99 5GB eSIM. Indonesian data is cheap locally and travel eSIMs do not pass much of that through. Against Saily's verified prices that gap is now wide enough to change minds.

The eSIM's case is procedural. Local SIMs must be registered against your passport in person, which means finding the counter, queueing and filling in a form after a long flight, then swapping out your home SIM. An eSIM needs none of that and is working when you land. Saily's plans run from $8.99 to $35.99 against a $5 counter SIM, so that convenience costs $4 to $31 depending on the size you pick. Whether it is worth it is a personal question — but at Saily's real prices, that is the size of the question.

Verdict

Consider the 1GB plan if you want a week rather than three days; twenty-nine cents over Airalo for four extra days is fair. Above that, buy something else. At 5GB, 10GB and 20GB Saily is the most expensive product in our Indonesian data, by up to 89%, with no coverage story, no network disclosure and no measurable advantage to justify it. If you like the Nord Security app enough to pay $8.99 more for a 10GB month, that is a choice you can make knowingly — but it is not one this page recommends.
