eSIMCard in Indonesia: we no longer hold a price for it

Both Indonesian rows have been withdrawn

We held two eSIMCard plans for Indonesia, and this review placed them precisely in the field. Both have been withdrawn — removed from the table here and from the cheapest-per-gigabyte ranking across the site, rather than relabelled.

This is a stronger statement than the indicative label those rows used to carry. Indicative means unread but plausible. On 18 August 2026 we read eSIMCard's own pages and found the plan our data priced identically in fifteen unrelated markets sells for well under half of it in Japan, and that our sizes matched neither tier it really sells. Once you know a number is wrong, calling it indicative stops being a caveat and starts being a euphemism.

Replacing them was not an option. eSIMCard sells the same size over the same duration at several prices at once — a Standard/Universal toggle switches the whole range between two product lines, every plan carries a speed-limit flag buried in its own details modal, and the operators named vary plan by plan. Our records hold only provider, size, days and price, so any single figure we stored would have flattened those distinctions into a claim we cannot support. Our eSIMCard page has the detail.

What an eSIM for Indonesia actually costs

The network claim we removed

An earlier version of this page stated that eSIMCard's Indonesia plan ran on Telkomsel and XL. It read like a fact — a specific two-carrier arrangement, the sort of detail nobody invents. Our data holds no host network for eSIMCard in Indonesia, so we should never have printed it, and it is gone.

Why it matters more here than in most countries: Indonesian coverage is genuinely uneven, and knowing the carrier would be worth paying for. Outside the main corridors — southern Bali, Lombok's towns, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Makassar — service thins fast. Most of the 17,000-plus islands have none at all, and the remote Raja Ampat dive sites, the Flores interior, most of Papua, interior Kalimantan and the Sumatra highlands are blank on every network. A traveller heading that way needs to choose a carrier deliberately, which means buying at a counter where the carrier is named on the box.

What eSIMCard still does that nobody else does

eSIMCard is the only one of the six sellers on this site that publishes the host network at all. We read that directly: its Japan page names three Japanese operators against its plans, in a Supported Countries & Networks block. Airalo, Nomad, Saily and Holafly name no operator in any country, and eSIM Go has no consumer page on which it could. That is a genuine difference, and the price check left it untouched.

For this country our records never held a carrier against its rows, so there is nothing here for us to retract — only a listing worth opening, since no rival publishes one at all. Indonesia is the country where that is worth most on this whole site: outside the main corridors the carrier decides whether you have service at all, and a seller that names one is answering a question everybody else refuses.

Verdict

We have no Indonesian price for eSIMCard, so this page cannot place it in the market. That is a gap in our records rather than a judgement on the shop.

For anything beyond southern Bali, Lombok's towns, Yogyakarta, Jakarta and Makassar, choose the carrier deliberately — which in practice means a local prepaid SIM at about $5 from the airport, with a passport needed to register.
