Airalo in Greece: the widest range, and the only checked prices

First, check whether you need this at all

Greece is in the EU. If your everyday SIM comes from an EU or EEA country, it almost certainly roams here at your domestic rates, and the right amount to spend on this trip is nothing. Everything below assumes that does not apply — that you are arriving from the US, from further afield, or from the UK on a tariff that reinstated roaming charges.

The second thing to weigh is the local option. Greek prepaid SIMs require no ID and are sold across the counter on the spot, with airport packs at around $15. That is genuinely easy in a way it is not in most countries. It is also more expensive than several of the eSIM plans below, which is unusual enough to be worth saying out loud.

The full Greek range

Airalo sells more shapes of plan here than anyone else: four durations, six sizes, plus a full unlimited ladder. Every price below was read off Airalo's own site on 13 August 2026. Saily's Greek prices were checked on 16 August and Nomad's on 18 August, so the comparisons on this page are now checked figures against checked figures; only Holafly remains indicative. All plans are data-only — no calls, no SMS — and tethering is supported throughout.

The duration surcharges are small — a fortnight of extra validity on the 5GB plan costs 50 cents — so there is rarely any point buying the tightest window and hoping.

Where it is the right answer

Two places, and they are both at the top of the range.

The first was the 50GB plan, and it no longer is. At $42 for 30 days it works out at $0.84 a gigabyte, less than half the rate of anything else Airalo sells here, and until this week we believed nobody else sold a Greek plan that large. Nomad does: 50GB over 30 days for $31, $0.62 a gigabyte, read off its own store on 17 August 2026. Airalo's 50GB is the fallback now, not the buy.

The second, which stands, is unlimited, where it quietly undercuts Holafly at every length the two of them share.

The gap is pennies at three days and nearly $6 across a month. Holafly's prices are indicative rather than checked, so the short-end margins are inside the noise, but the direction is consistent. The exception is Nomad, which this page used to describe as selling a single seven-day unlimited plan at $23. It sells four — $11 for three days, $18 for five, $25 for seven, $33 for ten — and each undercuts Airalo at the same length. Above ten days Airalo has the field to itself.

Where it doesn't win

The mid-range, and not by a little. Airalo's verified 10GB for 30 days is $20 and its 20GB for 30 days is $35.50. Nomad's, now read off its own store, are $18 and $21 — a $14.50 difference at the larger size, which is two thirds of the price again. An earlier version of this page carried Nomad at $16 and $22 and warned that the gap might narrow once somebody checked. At 20GB it widened.

Nomad is the only genuine undercut at those two sizes, though. Saily's Greek prices were verified on 16 August 2026 and came in higher than we had them: $22.99 for 10GB over 30 days and $35.99 for 20GB over 30 days, both above Airalo. If you were choosing between Airalo and Saily at 10 or 20GB on price, Airalo now wins.

The entry point is Airalo's verified $4 for 1GB over three days, which is now the cheapest we can stand behind here; an eSIMCard row used to undercut it and has been withdrawn. And Saily's verified 3GB for 30 days at $9.99 has no Airalo equivalent, because Airalo's 3GB plans stop at a week.

What we cannot tell you

Airalo does not publish a host network — not for Greece, not for anywhere. At checkout the Greek plan carries the name Meraki Mobile, which is Airalo's own product branding rather than a carrier.

That gap matters more here than it would somewhere flat and well-covered, because Greece's weak spots are specific and well known: the smaller Cyclades and Dodecanese islands, Folegandros, Sikinos and Kastelórizo among them; the mountainous interiors of the mainland and Crete; the interior of Corfu; and stretches of Aegean ferry route with no signal at all between islands.

Which of the three Greek networks a plan lands on would change how much of that you actually notice, and nobody publishes it. So plan for the gaps rather than around them. Download offline maps before you board a ferry, and do not assume data mid-crossing.

Verdict

Buy Airalo in Greece for unlimited data, especially over fifteen or thirty days, where it beats Holafly on price and has no other competition at all.

The metered case has gone. Nomad is cheaper at 10GB and 20GB, and its 50GB at $31 undercuts Airalo's $42 by eleven dollars for the same allowance over the same month. And if you carry an EU or EEA SIM, you probably need none of this.
