Vodafone Greece SIM card: the tourist prepaid SIM, as Vodafone describes it

Vodafone Greece has a dedicated tourist page: order a prepaid SIM online with a passport or ID, or collect one at Athens airport. Its prices are on its site.

Is a Vodafone Greece SIM card a good option for a visitor?

For a stay of a week or more, it is one of the more straightforward local options we could read. Vodafone Greece runs a page headed for tourists and tells you how to get a prepaid SIM with no contract: order online with a valid passport or ID, or pick one up at an airport kiosk or any Vodafone shop. What the page does not give is the detail you would compare on, namely the plan sizes, prices and validity.

What does Vodafone say a tourist can buy?

We read Vodafone Greece's tourist page ("Stay Connected in Greece") on 8 October 2026.

  • Online order. Choose one of the Vodafone International prepaid bundles and order a new prepaid SIM using a valid passport or ID.
  • In person. Vodafone says its kiosk at Athens International Airport, kiosks at the Fraport-run airports in Greece and any Vodafone shop in Greece sell the SIM. A store locator is linked.

The page has a "Why choose Vodafone International?" heading but nothing readable under it. It shows no data allowance, validity, price, eSIM option or coverage claim, so we quote none. Current bundles and prices are on Vodafone's site: Vodafone tourist prepaid page.

Does Vodafone Greece have an eSIM for tourists?

We could not confirm it. The tourist page does not mention eSIM. Vodafone has eSIM help pages, but we did not read them in full, and one notice about activating an eSIM through the My Vodafone app appeared to be dated, so check before you rely on it.

What about coverage and registration?

Vodafone's tourist page makes no 4G or 5G claim and gives no map. The only registration detail it gives is that an online order needs a valid passport or ID. We do not know how quickly the SIM activates after that, so allow time if you order before you fly.

Vodafone compared with a travel eSIM

Vodafone's strength is that you can walk up to a kiosk at Athens airport and leave with a local number. A travel eSIM is installed before you fly and starts when you land. If you want to compare costs, our Greece SIM card comparison and cheapest eSIM page are the places to start. Other carriers: Cosmote and Wind Hellas (Nova). Return to the Greece hub.

Bottom line

Our verdict on the Vodafone Greece SIM card is that the Vodafone tourist SIM route is easy to follow, with a passport order online or an airport kiosk. Check Vodafone prepaid prices and Vodafone coverage on its site.
