Nomad in Vietnam: a small range built around one very good plan

The range

Two unlimited plans sit alongside them: five days at $18 and ten days at $33.

Hotspot tethering is supported on all plans. These prices were read off Nomad's own site on 17 August 2026 and are verified. They were not when this page was first written, and two things it said have turned out to be wrong. Nomad sells no 1GB Vietnam plan, although this page listed one. And the 10GB month is $17.

There is no 20GB plan and nothing between 10GB and 50GB, which is a real gap: the jump from $17 to $39 is the biggest step in the range.

The 50GB plan is the reason to be here

At $0.78 a gigabyte, Nomad's 50GB month is the cheapest large plan in our Vietnam data by a clear margin. Airalo's 50GB month, which is a verified price, is $49 — ten dollars more for the same allowance and the same duration.

That is the one place in Vietnam where Nomad is clear of everything else. An earlier version of this page told you to confirm the listing yourself before buying, because the price was ours rather than Nomad's; it is now Nomad's, and that caveat is withdrawn.

Below that the picture is closer than we had it. Nomad's 5GB month at $10 is the cheapest 5GB we hold, by 99 cents over Saily's verified $10.99. Its 10GB month is $17 — a dollar under Airalo's verified $18 and 99 cents under Saily's verified $17.99, which makes it the cheapest 10GB month in the country rather than the level-pegging we described. Its 3GB month at $8 is the one place a rival is ahead, by a penny, against Saily's verified $7.99.

So: if you are buying small, the differences are pocket change and every figure in the comparison is now a checked one. If you are buying big, Nomad is the answer, and by ten dollars.

"Unlimited" means 2GB a day

Nomad's two unlimited plans come with a stated structure rather than an open tap. The listing describes 2GB a day at high speed, after which data continues without a cap at 1Mbps.

That is honest, and 1Mbps is enough for maps, messaging and email, but it is not the same product Holafly sells and it changes the arithmetic. Five days at $18 gives you 10GB at full speed. That is a dollar more than Nomad's own metered 10GB plan, which gives you the same allowance over 30 days instead of five.

Unless the slow tail is genuinely useful to you — a fallback for a heavy day rather than the main event — the metered plan is the better buy at the same money. The ten-day unlimited at $33 works the same way: 20GB at full speed, spread over ten days.

Network and where it stops mattering

Nomad publishes no host network for Vietnam, or for any of the 47 countries it sells in. An earlier version of this page said its listing pointed to Mobifone and Vinaphone; that came from generated text rather than from Nomad, and it has gone.

That is a limitation of the whole market rather than of Nomad in particular. No travel eSIM in our Vietnam data has a host network anyone has confirmed, and the three sellers whose prices we have read at source — Airalo, Saily and Nomad — name no carrier at all.

It bites in the obvious places. Vietnamese cities, the coast and the main highways are well covered by everything. The gaps are the Sapa trekking routes, the Ha Giang Loop, the deeper karst channels of Ha Long Bay and the rural Mekong Delta waterways, and Viettel is the only carrier with reliable 4G across most remote areas.

If your trip runs through those places, a local prepaid SIM from the carrier you choose is the only reliable route. It costs around $7 at the airport and your passport is required to register it; the eSIM needs no ID.

Verdict

Buy Nomad in Vietnam for the 50GB month at $39. For a long stay, a working trip, or anyone tethering a laptop, it is the best value in our table and nothing else is close at that size.

For a week or two of ordinary use, the 10GB month at $17 is now the cheapest of its size in the country, a dollar under Airalo and 99 cents under Saily. Skip the unlimited plans unless the 1Mbps tail is worth something to you. Full comparison on the Vietnam hub.
