Vinaphone (VNPT) Vietnam SIM card: tourist SIM, eSIM and what is dated
Vinaphone's tourist SIM page is from 2019, so its price is a pointer only. We found no current tourist price or ID rule on Vinaphone's own pages.
Is a Vinaphone Vietnam SIM card a good choice for a visitor?
We cannot call it a confident choice, because the only tourist page we could read on Vinaphone's parent site, VNPT, is dated 13 June 2019. It describes a tourist SIM, but prices and terms from 2019 may well have changed. What Vinaphone's own pages now say about foreign visitors, ID or eSIM, we could not read: the vinaphone.com.vn address redirects to vnpt.vn, and its eSIM address would not load.
What did the VNPT tourist SIM page say?
We read the Tourist SIM VinaPhone article on vnpt.vn on 8 October 2026. As of its 2019 date, it listed:
- Price
- 199,000 dong, including 10,000 dong added to the main account
- Data
- 1 GB of 4G per day, with extra data charged at 75 dong per 50 KB
- Validity
- 15 days from registration, after which the SIM is automatically cancelled
- Calls
- 50 free domestic minutes, 50 SMS and 50 free international minutes to certain countries
- Where to buy
- arrival counters at international airports, VNPT Vinaphone stores in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, or through travel agents before the trip
The page did not say what passport or ID documents are required; it suggested calling the 18001091 hotline. Treat the figures above as history, not an offer.
Does Vinaphone sell an eSIM?
We could not read Vinaphone's own eSIM site. A search of the VNPT domain turned up Vietnamese-language pages about eSIM sign-up through the My VNPT app, with identity verification by national ID or passport, but we have not read them and cannot give conditions or prices. Ask before you rely on it.
Coverage
Our pages made no coverage claim. Our network notes describe Vinaphone's 4G as strong, but that is unverified. Check Vinaphone's coverage tools for your route.
Vinaphone compared with a travel eSIM
Without a current price or ID rule, a travel eSIM is the safer plan. See our Vietnam SIM card comparison and cheapest eSIM page. For carriers whose pages we could read, see Viettel, Mobifone and Vietnamobile, or return to the Vietnam hub.
Bottom line
Our verdict on the Vinaphone Vietnam SIM card is that its tourist SIM page is dated, so check Vinaphone prepaid, Vinaphone eSIM and Vinaphone coverage on current pages before you buy.
Common questions
Does Vinaphone sell a tourist SIM in Vietnam?
A VNPT article dated 13 June 2019 describes a Vinaphone tourist SIM at 199,000 dong with 1 GB of 4G per day for 15 days. It is six years old, so we cannot confirm it is still sold. Ask at an airport counter or a Vinaphone store.
How much is a Vinaphone tourist SIM?
The 2019 VNPT page listed 199,000 dong, including 10,000 dong of main account balance. That price is dated, and we found no current Vinaphone price on pages we could read. Confirm at the airport counter or a Vinaphone store. Check the carrier's own page before you buy.
Do I need a passport for a Vinaphone SIM?
The VNPT tourist SIM page does not say which documents are needed and points to the 18001091 hotline. Vietnamese SIM registration generally involves identity documents, but we could not confirm Vinaphone's current rule from its own pages. Bring your original passport.
Does Vinaphone have an eSIM?
We could not confirm it from Vinaphone's own site, because its eSIM address did not load. Search listings on the VNPT domain refer to eSIM sign-up through the My VNPT app, but we did not read them. Check the app or a Vinaphone store.
Is Vinaphone VNPT the same company?
Vinaphone is presented alongside VNPT: vinaphone.com.vn redirected to vnpt.vn when we opened it, and the tourist SIM article sits on the VNPT site. We read nothing explaining the group structure, so we make no claim beyond that link. Check the carrier's own page before you buy.
