Saily in Vietnam: a dollar cheaper than we thought, and a network claim withdrawn

The Vietnam range

Saily gives everything above its smallest plan a 30-day window, which removes one decision from the purchase.

Those five prices were read from Saily's own site on 16 August 2026. There is nothing above 20GB, and no unlimited tier — if you want either of those in Vietnam, this is not the provider.

Hotspot tethering is supported. Calls and SMS are not included on any plan.

What the check moved

This page previously ran on figures nobody had confirmed, and two of them were wrong. The 5GB month was published here at $11.99 and actually sells at $10.99. And the range we listed included a 2GB month that does not exist; what Saily actually sells at the small end is 3GB for $7.99.

Both corrections happen to favour the buyer, which is a good illustration of why an unchecked figure is not a cheap figure — it is just an unknown one. The dollar we had wrongly added at 5GB was the same order of magnitude as the penny-thin gaps this page used to make arguments about.

The 3GB month is the plan to notice

At $7.99 for 30 days, Saily's 3GB plan is the best-shaped small plan we can verify in Vietnam. Airalo's 3GB costs $8.00 and expires after seven days — a cent more for a quarter of the window. If 3GB is your size, this is the one.

It suits a specific and very common Vietnam trip: someone on hotel and café wifi most of the day who wants data for maps, Grab and messaging, spread across a month rather than crammed into a week. The alternative used to be an undersized 1GB plan that expires in seven days or paying for 5GB nobody uses.

Nomad's verified 3GB month at $8.00 is the nearest rival, a cent above it.

Cheapest at 10GB and 20GB, by one cent

Saily's 10GB month at $17.99 is the lowest 10GB price in our Vietnam data, and its 20GB month at $28.99 is the lowest 20GB price. In both cases the plan it beats is Airalo's — $18.00 and $29.00 — and in both cases the margin is a single cent.

Both columns are now verified, so the comparison is at least real. It is also meaningless. A penny is not a reason to choose a provider, and Airalo's shorter windows undercut Saily outright if you do not need a month: 10GB over seven days is $17.00, 20GB over fifteen days is $28.00.

So treat Saily's mid-range as level with the market rather than ahead of it, and choose on shape. Saily's case is that every plan is a month and there are five of them; Airalo's is that it slices each allowance four ways and runs further at the top.

Where the range stops

There is no 50GB Saily plan in Vietnam and no unlimited one, so a month of heavy use has to go elsewhere. Nomad's verified 50GB month at $39 is $0.78 a gigabyte — the cheapest verified rate in the country — and Airalo's verified 50GB at $49 is $0.98. An earlier version of this page called Airalo's the cheapest verified rate and the only verified plan above 20GB, on the basis that Nomad's row was indicative. Nomad's Vietnam prices were read at source on 17 August 2026, and both claims have gone. Airalo's verified unlimited runs $48 for fifteen days and $69 for thirty, both of which are beaten by that 50GB plan unless you genuinely expect to pass 50GB.

Network: the Viettel claim is withdrawn

This page used to say Saily's listing named Viettel and Vinaphone, and that it was the only seller in our Vietnam data to mention Viettel at all. Reading Saily's own Vietnam pages on 16 August 2026 settled it: Saily names no Vietnamese carrier anywhere. What it offers is a reliable connection from Vietnam's best networks, which is a sentence, not a fact. The old claim came from our own extracted data and it is gone.

That matters more in Vietnam than almost anywhere, because Viettel genuinely is the carrier with reliable coverage across the places travellers most want it — the Sapa trekking routes, the Ha Giang Loop, the deeper Ha Long Bay karst channels, the rural Mekong Delta waterways. No eSIM in our data can be shown to run on it, and now none of them even claims to.

If remote coverage is what you are buying, buy it directly: a physical Viettel SIM bought in Vietnam, about $7 at the airport, passport required at the counter and registration properly enforced. The eSIM needs no ID and no queue, but it cannot promise you a network.

Verdict

Saily is a sound choice in Vietnam and a straightforward one. Five plans, all monthly bar the smallest, all now confirmed at source.

Buy the 3GB month at $7.99 if you are a light user. A month of validity for the price of a week from Airalo is the one clear win in the range. Buy the 10GB or 20GB month if you want a single decision and a full month, knowing the penny you save is not the point. Look elsewhere if you need more than 20GB, unlimited data, or a named network.
