eSIMCard in Vietnam: the biggest catalogue we held, and all of it withdrawn

Ten rows, all withdrawn

Vietnam was the largest eSIMCard catalogue we held anywhere: ten plans, a per-gigabyte curve this page traced in detail, and a one-day unlimited product no rival sold. All ten rows have now been withdrawn — out of the table here and out of the cheapest-per-gigabyte ranking across the site — and every ranking built on them has gone rather than been softened.

The word those rows carried was indicative: our number rather than one read at a checkout, but close enough to quote. That is precisely what turned out not to be true. We read eSIMCard's own pages on 18 August 2026 and found the entry plan our data repeated at one price across fifteen unrelated countries goes for well under half that on its Japanese page. "Indicative" describes a figure that might be roughly right. We now have direct evidence ours was not.

Nor could we simply substitute the correct figures. Our records have room for a provider, a size, a number of days and a price, and eSIMCard prices the same size over the same days at two or three different amounts — depending on a Standard/Universal toggle that swaps the entire catalogue between product lines, on a per-plan speed limit hidden inside each plan's details modal, and on carrier sets that change from one plan to the next. Storing one price per size would assert that a throttled plan and a full-speed plan are the same product. The reasoning is set out on our eSIMCard page.

What an eSIM for Vietnam actually costs

Airalo and Saily were read on 13 August 2026, Nomad on 17 August 2026. Take these to eSIMCard's checkout and judge what you find there against them.

Network and coverage

The operator our own records held against eSIMCard's Vietnamese rows came from this site's generated text rather than from eSIMCard, and it was attached to only two of the ten plans. It has been withdrawn with the prices.

So we have nothing to offer on the network here, which is a pity, because Vietnam is a country where it matters. Cities, the coast and the main routes are fine on any network. The gaps are the Sapa trekking routes, the Ha Giang Loop, the deeper karst channels of Ha Long Bay and the rural Mekong Delta waterways, and Viettel is the only carrier with reliable 4G across most remote areas.

If that is your itinerary, buy a local prepaid SIM from the carrier you want. It costs about $7 at the airport and needs your passport at the counter. The eSIM needs no ID.

What eSIMCard still does that nobody else does

eSIMCard is the only one of the six sellers on this site that publishes the host network at all. We read that directly: its Japan page names three Japanese operators against its plans, in a Supported Countries & Networks block. Airalo, Nomad, Saily and Holafly name no operator in any country, and eSIM Go has no consumer page on which it could. That is a genuine difference, and the price check left it untouched.

The carriers our own records held against its rows here came from this site's generated text rather than from eSIMCard, so those are ours to withdraw and not its claim to defend. Its own country listing is the place to look. Vietnam is a country where the answer is worth real money: Viettel is the only carrier with reliable 4G across most remote areas, and nobody else in this market will tell you whether you are on it.

Verdict

We have no Vietnamese price for eSIMCard, so this page no longer ranks any of its ten plans — not the cheap entry, not the one-day unlimited, not the expensive top end. That is a limitation in our records rather than a finding about the shop: it is a genuine retailer with a working checkout and a catalogue wider than even our ten rows suggested.

If your route is Sapa, the Ha Giang Loop, the karst channels of Ha Long Bay or the Mekong waterways, buy a local prepaid SIM from the carrier you want — about $7 at the airport, passport needed. Otherwise the verified table above and the Vietnam hub have the field.
