Nomad in Turkey: a 30-day window that no longer stands alone

Eight plans, read off nomadesim.com on 17 August 2026:

Unlimited runs $17 for five days and $28 for ten. Hotspot tethering is supported throughout.

One of those prices is promotional: the 5GB month was showing at $9 against a list price of $15. If the promotion ends it becomes the dearest 5GB month in the country rather than the cheapest, so check the ticket at that size. The other seven carry no sale marker.

This page needs correcting before anything else. It used to describe Nomad's Turkish range as two rows, both unchecked, and it built the entire review on a host network that Nomad does not publish. Neither the range nor the network survived contact with Nomad's own site.

The network claim was wrong

An earlier version of this page said Nomad was the only provider we track running on Türk Telekom rather than Turkcell, called that "the whole review", and told you to buy elsewhere because of it.

Nomad publishes no host network for Turkey. It publishes none for any of the 47 countries it sells in. The Türk Telekom line came from our own generated data rather than from Nomad, and it is gone.

That removes the argument this page was built on. It also removes the reason we gave for preferring rivals: Airalo publishes no Turkish host network either, and neither does Saily — an earlier version of this page credited Saily with Turkcell, and our data holds no network for it. The Turkcell and Vodafone pair our data carried against eSIMCard's rows came from our own text rather than from eSIMCard; Holafly names none, here or anywhere else.

On price it now wins almost everything

The Airalo rows below were read from Airalo's own site on 13 August 2026 and the Saily rows from Saily's own site on 16 August. Nomad's are as checked as either.

Nomad is cheapest at every metered size on that table, by margins running from 99 cents at 3GB to $3.50 at 50GB. Airalo's 3GB is the only capped plan that comes level with it anywhere, at $6 — for three days rather than a month.

The 5GB row is the one to treat carefully. Nomad's $9 was a sale price against a $15 list; at list price Airalo's $10 and Saily's $9.99 both beat it. Every other row in the table is a standing price.

At 1GB Nomad loses, and only just: $4 for seven days against Saily's verified $3.99 for the same shape.

Unlimited goes the same way. Nomad's $17 for five days is under Airalo's verified $18.50 and Holafly's verified $20.50; its $28 for ten days is well under Airalo's $34.50 and Holafly's $36.50.

The 50GB month is the headline

At $31 for 50GB over 30 days, Nomad charges 62 cents a gigabyte — the cheapest verified rate in Turkey, and $3.50 under Airalo's verified 50GB at $34.50. Saily sells nothing that large.

For a month in Istanbul, a long Aegean summer or anyone tethering a laptop, that is the plan to beat and nothing in our Turkey data beats it.

Where coverage fails, whoever you buy from

Turkcell has the largest market share and the widest reach, and the places that shows are the places tourists go outside the big cities: eastern Turkey, Cappadocia and the Black Sea coast. But no travel eSIM sold for Turkey will confirm which network you attach to, so this is not something you can buy deliberately. If a specific carrier matters, ask for it by name at a Turkish counter.

The gaps no operator solves are rural Eastern Anatolia, the narrow Cappadocia gorges where signal drops between rock formations, mountain roads between Black Sea towns, and some Aegean and Mediterranean island-hopping routes.

5G is not a tiebreaker. It launched commercially in Turkey on 1 April 2026 and coverage remains extremely limited. Plan for 4G. The country-wide average speed in our data is 38 Mbps, which is plenty for maps, ferry timetables and photo backups over a coffee.

The Turkish complication: buy before you land

Turkey's regulator, the BTK, has blocked access to most international eSIM provider websites — Nomad among them — from inside the country. An installed eSIM keeps working. Purchasing, installing a profile, topping up or reinstalling from inside Turkey requires a VPN.

Nomad's 30-day windows are the better shape for that constraint, because you are less likely to need a mid-trip top-up. But the rule stands regardless of provider: buy it, install it, and confirm it shows up in your mobile data settings before you leave home.

Verdict

Nomad is the cheapest verified eSIM in Turkey at every size except a single gigabyte, and the cheapest unlimited at both lengths it sells. This page previously told you to take Saily instead, on the strength of a network claim that was not Nomad's and prices that were not Nomad's either. Both of those reasons have gone.

Buy the 50GB month at $31 for a long or heavy stay, the 10GB month at $13 for a normal fortnight, and Saily's 1GB at $3.99 only if a single gigabyte is genuinely all you want. The side-by-side across all providers is on the Turkey hub.
