eSIMCard in Turkey: our prices have gone, the buying advice has not

Both Turkish rows have been withdrawn

This review ran the arithmetic on eSIMCard's two short-window Turkish plans and decided the case on it. Both rows have now been withdrawn — out of the table here and out of the cheapest-per-gigabyte ranking across the site — so the arithmetic goes with them.

This is a stronger statement than the indicative label those rows used to carry. Indicative means unread but plausible. On 18 August 2026 we read eSIMCard's own pages and found the plan our data priced identically in fifteen unrelated markets sells for well under half of it in Japan, and that our sizes matched neither tier it really sells. Once you know a number is wrong, calling it indicative stops being a caveat and starts being a euphemism.

Replacing them was not an option. eSIMCard sells the same size over the same duration at several prices at once — a Standard/Universal toggle switches the whole range between two product lines, every plan carries a speed-limit flag buried in its own details modal, and the operators named vary plan by plan. Our records hold only provider, size, days and price, so any single figure we stored would have flattened those distinctions into a claim we cannot support. Our eSIMCard page has the detail.

What an eSIM for Turkey actually costs

The network, and why you cannot choose it

Turkcell is the network we recommend for visitors — largest market share, widest coverage, and specifically the strongest reach in eastern Turkey, Cappadocia and along the Black Sea coast. Vodafone holds up well in the coastal resorts. Country-wide average speed in our data is 38 Mbps. The carriers our own records held against eSIMCard's Turkish rows came from this site's generated text rather than from eSIMCard, so we no longer present them as its listing.

What no network fixes: rural Eastern Anatolia, the narrow Cappadocia gorges where signal drops between rock formations, Black Sea mountain roads between towns, and some Aegean and Mediterranean island-hopping routes. If your itinerary is heavy on those, buy more data than you think you need, because you will be reloading maps.

Install it before you fly — this is not optional in Turkey

The BTK, Turkey’s telecoms regulator, has blocked access to most international eSIM provider websites from inside the country. An eSIM already installed on your phone continues to work normally. Buying one, installing a purchased profile, topping up or reinstalling after a reset all require a VPN once you are in Turkey.

This interacts badly with short validity windows from any seller. A three-day plan that expires while you are still in Cappadocia cannot simply be replaced from your hotel. Buy enough validity to cover the whole trip before departure, or accept that you will be topping up through a VPN.

What eSIMCard still does that nobody else does

eSIMCard is the only one of the six sellers on this site that publishes the host network at all. We read that directly: its Japan page names three Japanese operators against its plans, in a Supported Countries & Networks block. Airalo, Nomad, Saily and Holafly name no operator in any country, and eSIM Go has no consumer page on which it could. That is a genuine difference, and the price check left it untouched.

The carriers our own records held against its rows here came from this site's generated text rather than from eSIMCard, so those are ours to withdraw and not its claim to defend. Its own country listing is the place to look. Turkey is a country where it would be worth having, because Turkcell's reach in the east, in Cappadocia and along the Black Sea coast is the real differentiator.

Verdict

We have no Turkish price for eSIMCard, so this page no longer ranks it. That is a gap in our records rather than a judgement on the shop.

The advice that outlives the prices: install before you fly, and buy enough validity for the whole trip, because the regulator's block makes replacing a plan from inside the country a VPN job. The verified table above and the Turkey hub have the field.
