Holafly in Portugal: unlimited data, consistently outpriced

What Holafly sells in Portugal

Unlimited data, six durations, nothing metered. These prices were read off Holafly's own site on 18 August 2026.

A correction. The table here used to read $11.70, $19.50, $27.30, $36.90, $50.90 and $74.90, and made a point of the first three coming to exactly $3.90 a day. There is no flat daily rate — five days is the worst-value rung, at $4.10 — and every figure in the old table was wrong. They came from our own generated dataset rather than from Holafly. Calls and texts are not included on any plan.

The problem: every duration is undercut

Portugal is the country where this comparison is least kind to Holafly, because two rivals sell the same product at the same six lengths and both have been read at source.

Six out of six. The gaps at the short end are small — 40 cents over three days is not a reason to choose anything — but they widen with length, reaching $4.90 on the month against Airalo, and Nomad is cheaper than both at the four lengths it sells. On price alone, Holafly's short plans are third in a field of three.

Do you actually need unlimited here?

Probably not. Portugal has near-universal free wi-fi in cafés, hotels and Lisbon and Porto airports, and the metered competition is unusually cheap: Airalo's verified 20GB plan for 30 days costs $19 and Nomad's $20, roughly a quarter of the unlimited month above. Its verified 10GB month is $11. You would have to get through something like 78GB in a month before unlimited starts to make sense, and most travellers using maps, messaging and a few photo uploads land nowhere near that.

Unlimited earns its place in two cases. If you are streaming or video-calling daily, metered plans become an anxiety you are paying to avoid. And if you want a full uncapped month, Holafly sells one — for $4.90 more than Airalo's.

Two things we can't confirm

The network. Holafly's own Portugal listing names no carrier at all. The NOS, MEO and Vodafone Portugal trio this page used to show came from our own data — where the last name arrived visibly cut off, which was a fair sign of its provenance — rather than from Holafly, which publishes no host network for Portugal or for any of the countries we read. Airalo, Saily and Nomad publish none either, so nothing above depends on it.

Tethering. Our Portugal listing for Holafly records hotspot sharing as supported on all plans, while our Ireland listing for the same provider records it as unavailable. Both came from the same unreliable source — the one that produced the wrong prices above — and they cannot both be describing a consistent policy. If you need to tether a laptop, ask Holafly directly before paying, and check the terms of any plan you buy instead.

Verdict

We can't recommend it in Portugal. Every duration Holafly sells is available cheaper from a provider whose price we have actually checked, and the metered plans on the Portugal hub are far better value for anything short of heavy daily streaming — Airalo's $11 for a 10GB month against $73.90 for thirty uncapped days. If you want unlimited, buy it — just not this one. And if your SIM was issued in the EU or EEA, Portugal is covered by your home allowance and you need nothing at all.
