eSIM Go in Ireland: what we know, which is less than this page once implied

eSIM Go does not sell to travellers

Before anything else on this page: eSIM Go sells wholesale to resellers, not to the public. We opened esim-go.com on 18 August 2026 and found no consumer price anywhere on the site — no basket, no checkout, Contact Sales where a shop puts Buy now, and no per-country consumer pages, which return 404.

So there is no Irish plan to price, no product page for you to check, and nothing on eSIM Go's site to hold against the market below. The 34 rows we do hold for it, spread across 16 large countries, cannot be verified for the same reason: there is no published consumer price to read them against. Start with the gap

We have no eSIM Go plans for Ireland. Not one price, not one allowance, not one validity period, and no host network either. The previous version of this page did not have them either — it told you to check the product page for current pricing, and then went on to make claims about coverage anyway.

That combination is the reason this page has been rewritten rather than trimmed. A review with no plan data is not a review, and a coverage verdict resting on a network nobody sourced is worse than silence.

So this page does the only honest thing available: it tells you what an Irish eSIM is worth.

What the Irish market charges

Every figure below is the cheapest we hold at that size. Airalo's were read from its own site on 13 August 2026, Nomad's from its own on 17 August 2026 and Saily's from its own on 18 August 2026; only the Holafly rows are indicative.

The useful reference points: about $1.60 a gigabyte is the going rate at 10GB, a round dollar at 20GB, and 84 cents at 50GB. Anything materially above those lines is a premium you should be able to explain. Below 5GB the market is cheap enough that the differences stop mattering — a euro or two across a week.

If an unfamiliar brand quotes you something inside those bands, it is competitive. If it quotes $20 for 10GB, it is not.

The network claim we removed

An earlier version of this page stated that eSIM Go operated in Ireland on Three and Vodafone, and then argued that the best Irish carrier was Three Ireland, which this plan supposedly did not fully match. Both halves have gone. We hold no host network for eSIM Go here, so we could not confirm the first claim, and the second was a coverage judgement resting on it.

No travel eSIM in our Irish data publishes a confirmed host network, so this is not a criticism of one seller. It is a structural limit of the product category, and it matters in Ireland because coverage is genuinely uneven outside the cities.

The places to worry about are well known: the remote Atlantic peninsulas, meaning Dingle, Beara and Malin Head; the Wicklow Mountains and the Connemara interior; and the offshore islands, including the Arans, Cape Clear and Tory, which have limited coverage regardless of network. Dublin, Cork, Galway city, Killarney and the main motorway corridors are fine on anything.

What to check before you buy

Whatever you do buy, check it against four things. First, price per gigabyte against the table above. Second, validity — a 30-day window on a five-day trip is wasted money, and several rivals sell 7-day and 15-day versions. Third, whether hotspot is included, which matters if a laptop is coming with you. Fourth, whether top-ups are available on the same eSIM, so a mid-trip refill does not mean installing a second profile.

One thing you do not need to check is paperwork. Nothing in Ireland requires ID for a prepaid SIM, and eSIMs need no registration at purchase anywhere.

The alternative most visitors overlook

Ireland is one of the easiest countries in Europe to buy a physical SIM. No ID, no registration desk, no form — a rack purchase, roughly $20 at the airport, from Three Ireland, Vodafone Ireland or Eir, with an Irish number attached and a carrier you picked on purpose. For a west-coast driving trip, that last point is the strongest argument on this page.

And if your phone is on an EU or EEA plan, the correct spend is zero: roam-like-at-home covers Ireland from your existing allowance. UK visitors should check their own tariff, because roaming charges came back on some UK networks after Brexit and not others.

Verdict

We cannot recommend eSIM Go for Ireland, and we cannot warn you off it. We hold nothing. What we can say is that the market it is competing in has a $16 floor at 10GB and an $11 floor at 5GB, and that no eSIM here can tell you which network you will land on.
