Holafly in Ireland: unlimited data, and what it really costs

The plans

Holafly does one thing in Ireland: unlimited data, sold by duration. There is no small metered plan and no top-up ladder to climb. These prices were read off Holafly's own site on 18 August 2026, and the useful way to read them is by the day rather than by the sticker price.

A correction, and it removes the one plan this page told you to buy. We previously listed a 90-day Irish plan at $99 and said that at $1.10 a day nothing else in our Ireland data came close — the obvious purchase for a season, a placement or a long research trip. Holafly sells no 90-day plan, in Ireland or anywhere. Its entire range is 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 days. The 25-day plan we listed does not exist either, and the three real durations we priced were all too cheap: fifteen days is $50.50, not $46.90.

Calls and texts are not included on any of them — messaging runs over data, as it does with every travel eSIM we track for Ireland.

There is no length where Holafly is cheapest

Airalo's and Nomad's unlimited Irish plans were read off their own sites.

Nomad is the cheapest uncapped Irish plan at every length it sells. Airalo is cheaper than Holafly at all six. The 15-day win this page used to claim — $46.90 against Airalo's $48.50 — was based on a Holafly price $3.60 below the real one; at $50.50 the comparison goes the other way.

There is still a case that has nothing to do with money. If you genuinely cannot predict your usage, an unlimited plan removes the question, and some people will pay for that and be right to. It is just no longer a saving.

Where the numbers go against it

Most visitors to Ireland do not use enough data to justify unlimited. Airalo's verified 20GB for 30 days is $25.50 and Nomad's is $20; Airalo's verified 50GB for 30 days is $42. Holafly's unlimited month is $73.90. To come out ahead you would need to burn through more than 50GB in a month, which is streaming-heavy behaviour, not map-and-messaging behaviour. For a typical fortnight of navigation, photos and WhatsApp, a 10GB metered plan at $16 to $17 does the job for less than a quarter of the price.

The second problem is tethering. Holafly's Ireland listing records hotspot sharing as unavailable, and that is not a setting you can toggle. If you travel with a laptop or a tablet that gets online through your phone, this plan does not work for you and no amount of unlimited data fixes it — check the tethering terms on whatever you buy instead.

Third, no Irish number. That is true of the whole travel-eSIM category, but it bites in Ireland because a local prepaid SIM is unusually easy to get — around $20 at the airport, no ID required, sold over the counter in minutes.

The network question

Holafly's own listing for Ireland names no carrier. The Three, Eir and Vodafone trio this page used to show came from our own older data rather than from Holafly, which publishes no host network for Ireland or for any of the countries we have read. Nothing in the verdict above depended on it.

It matters because Irish coverage is not uniform. Signal thins on the remote Atlantic peninsulas — Dingle, Beara, Malin Head — in the Wicklow Mountains and the Connemara interior, and on the offshore islands, with the Aran Islands, Cape Clear and Tory Island all patchy. If your trip is built around those places, buy locally so you know exactly whose network you are on, and expect gaps whatever you buy.

Verdict

There is nothing left to recommend here on price. The 90-day plan that justified this page does not exist; Nomad undercuts Holafly by $0.90 to $3.50 at every length up to ten days; Airalo undercuts it at all six. If you do not need uncapped data at all, the metered plans on the Ireland hub cost a quarter as much, and anyone who tethers should rule Holafly out outright.

Ireland is also an EU country, so if your SIM was issued in the EU or EEA you may need to buy nothing at all — check your home allowance before you spend $20.50 on five days.
