What we hold on eSIMCard in Ireland

Nothing, and that is most of the review. Our Ireland dataset carries 37 plan rows across Airalo, Saily, Nomad and Holafly. Not one of them belongs to eSIMCard. Nobody here has read an eSIMCard Ireland price off eSIMCard's own site, and this site does not print prices it hasn't seen.

An earlier version of this page said eSIMCard runs on Three and Eir. That claim has gone. It came from a batch of generated text whose figures were wrong in roughly nine cases out of ten when we started checking them, and nothing we hold names a host network for this provider in Ireland. One detail from that old page is worth keeping, with the same caveat attached: it recorded hotspot tethering as supported. Treat it as an unconfirmed listing and check the product page before you buy on the strength of it.

Why we hold no eSIMCard price anywhere now

This blank used to be specific to Ireland. It no longer is. We carried 78 eSIMCard rows across 31 countries; on 18 August 2026 we read eSIMCard's own pages and found them wrong, and every one of those rows has been withdrawn from the tables and from the cheapest-per-gigabyte ranking.

We could not replace them with the right figures either. eSIMCard prices the same size over the same duration at two or three different amounts, depending on a Standard/Universal toggle, a per-plan speed limit hidden inside each plan's details modal, and carrier sets that vary plan by plan. Our records hold only provider, size, days and price, so any single figure we stored would flatten a throttled plan and a full-speed one into one row. Our eSIMCard page sets out the reasoning.

None of that is a verdict on the shop. eSIMCard has a working checkout, a catalogue far wider than our rows ever showed, and it is the only one of the six sellers here that publishes the host network its plans use — its Japan page names three Japanese operators, where Airalo, Nomad, Saily and Holafly name none anywhere. What we have no read of is its Ireland listing, which is why this page still prices the market instead.

What an eSIMCard plan would have to beat

Ireland is well supplied, and the floor is low. Airalo's rows were read off its own site on 13 August 2026 and Nomad's off its own on 17 August 2026; the rest are indicative and should be treated as a guide to the shape of the pricing rather than a quote.

The arithmetic is what matters here. Airalo's verified 50 GB sits at $0.84/GB, its 20 GB at $1.25/GB, and its 1 GB at $4/GB — the small plans are five times the unit price of the big one. So an eSIMCard plan that looks cheap in absolute terms may still be poor value. Work out the per-gigabyte figure before you compare anything.

For unlimited data the spread narrows: Nomad's verified five-day plan is $18, Holafly's indicative one is $19 and Airalo's verified one is $19.50. Any provider entering that bracket has almost no room to undercut.

Networks, and why we won't guess one

Ireland has three mobile networks — Three, Vodafone and Eir. Which one a travel eSIM roams onto genuinely matters, because the gaps are real: coverage thins on the remote Atlantic peninsulas around Dingle, Beara and Malin Head, in the Wicklow Mountains and the Connemara interior, and on offshore islands including the Aran Islands, Cape Clear and Tory Island.

That makes it tempting to pick a provider by network. Resist it, because the data is not there. We hold no host network for eSIMCard in Ireland, and none for Airalo, Saily or Nomad either — none of the three publishes one, here or anywhere. Holafly is in the same position: the three operators our data once listed against its Irish rows came from our own older text rather than from Holafly, which names no carrier for any country. No recommendation on this page rests on it.

Should you buy an eSIM for Ireland at all

Many readers shouldn't. Ireland is in the EU, so if your SIM was issued anywhere in the EU or EEA, your home allowance travels with you under roam-like-at-home rules and you need nothing. UK contracts are the awkward case since Brexit: some networks reinstated EU roaming charges and some did not, so check yours rather than assuming.

If you are coming from further afield, the local option is unusually easy. Prepaid SIMs from the Irish networks run about $20 at the airport, and no ID is required — you buy and go. That buys you an Irish number for calls and texts, which no travel eSIM on this page gives you. For pure data on a short trip it is beaten easily: Airalo's verified 5 GB for seven days is $10, half the airport price.

Verdict

We can't recommend a plan we can't price. We hold no eSIMCard rows for Ireland to verify, so the honest answer is to buy from a provider whose numbers we have checked; the cheapest verified entry point is Airalo's $4 for 1 GB over three days. If eSIMCard's own site shows you something under $1/GB with hotspot included, it is worth a look on the merits — just not on ours.
