Airalo in Finland: strong on capped data, weak on unlimited

Every price below was read off Airalo's own site on 13 August 2026. That is worth stating plainly, because most travel eSIM pricing quoted online — including on earlier versions of this site — is second-hand and often wrong.

Unlimited is sold separately: $11.50 for three days, $18.50 for five, $27 for seven, $34 for ten, $48 for fifteen and $69 for thirty.

No calls or SMS are included on any plan. Airalo's listing says hotspot tethering is supported across the range, which is worth confirming at checkout but matters if you are working from a laptop.

Buy the long validity — it costs almost nothing

The table has an obvious shape once you read across it. Five gigabytes costs $9.00 for a week or $10.00 for a month: twenty-three extra days for a dollar. Ten gigabytes goes from $14.50 to $15.50 over the same stretch. Twenty gigabytes costs fifty cents more for thirty days than for fifteen.

So unless you are certain of your dates, always take the thirty-day version. The saving on a shorter plan is trivial, and the cost of running out — buying a second eSIM mid-trip at full price — is not. This is the single most useful thing to know about Airalo's Finland pricing.

The per-gigabyte curve is the second. At 5GB you are paying $2.00 per GB, at 10GB $1.55, at 20GB $1.10, and at 50GB $0.72. The 50GB month at $36 is the cheapest data we have found in Finland from anyone. If you are staying a few weeks, or tethering a laptop, it costs only $14 more than the 20GB plan for thirty extra gigabytes.

Where Airalo wins, and where it doesn't

Against Saily — whose Finland prices are indicative rather than checked — Airalo wins nearly everywhere. Saily lists 5GB for thirty days at $12.99 against Airalo's checked $10.00, and 10GB for thirty days at $19.99 against $15.50. The one exception is the very bottom: Saily's 1GB for seven days at $3.99 beats Airalo's checked 1GB for three days at $4.00, on validity rather than price.

Unlimited is where Airalo is weakest. Holafly's verified unlimited plans undercut it at almost every length: $27.90 against $36.50 at ten days, $36.90 against $48.00 at fifteen, and $59.90 against $69.00 at thirty. Only at five days does Airalo edge ahead, $18.50 to $18.90. Holafly also sells a one-day unlimited at $6.90 and a ninety-day at $99, neither of which Airalo matches.

But the better question is whether you want unlimited at all. Airalo's own 50GB month costs $36 — roughly half its unlimited month at $69, and less than Holafly's indicative $59.90. Fifty gigabytes is a great deal of data for a month of travel. Unless you plan to stream heavily or run a laptop off the connection all day, the capped plan is the better buy from either provider.

What we cannot tell you

Which Finnish network Airalo uses. It does not publish host networks for Finland, and it does not publish them for any country, so anyone who tells you otherwise is guessing. We will not.

Saily is in the same position — no host network published. So is Holafly: the Elisa, DNA and Telia Finland trio this page used to credit to its listing came from our own data rather than from Holafly, which names no carrier for Finland or for any country.

If being on a specific network matters — and in Finland it can, because the country's coverage differences show up in the far north rather than in the cities — the reliable route is a local prepaid SIM. Elisa, DNA and Telia all sell them, roughly $12 at the airport, with a passport required for registration. An eSIM needs no ID at all, which is its own small advantage.

Coverage limits apply to every provider equally: the Lapland wilderness and fell areas including Saariselkä and Kevo, remote lake islands, and some border wilderness. Signal is strong along the main E-roads and in tourist towns. Download offline maps before heading north.

Verdict

Airalo is our pick for Finland on capped data. Its prices are the only ones in this market we have verified this month, and it undercuts Saily at every size above 1GB. Airalo's checked 50GB month at $36 is the best value in the country by a distance.

Skip its unlimited tier. If you genuinely want unlimited, Holafly's listed prices are lower at most lengths, though they are unconfirmed. And if you are travelling from another EU country, your home plan already roams in Finland at domestic rates — buy nothing.
