eSIMCard in Croatia: what we know and what we don't

The short version

We cannot price eSIMCard in Croatia. It has no rows in our data — no plan, no price, no host network, nothing checked. Every figure on this page belongs to another provider, and we have said which.

That is deliberate. The prices we once carried for eSIMCard came from a generated batch that proved wrong in about nine cases out of ten once we started reading provider sites directly, and a few named plans that were never sold. Why we hold no eSIMCard price anywhere now

This blank used to be specific to Croatia. It no longer is. We carried 78 eSIMCard rows across 31 countries; on 18 August 2026 we read eSIMCard's own pages and found them wrong, and every one of those rows has been withdrawn from the tables and from the cheapest-per-gigabyte ranking.

We could not replace them with the right figures either. eSIMCard prices the same size over the same duration at two or three different amounts, depending on a Standard/Universal toggle, a per-plan speed limit hidden inside each plan's details modal, and carrier sets that vary plan by plan. Our records hold only provider, size, days and price, so any single figure we stored would flatten a throttled plan and a full-speed one into one row. Our eSIMCard page sets out the reasoning.

None of that is a verdict on the shop. eSIMCard has a working checkout, a catalogue far wider than our rows ever showed, and it is the only one of the six sellers here that publishes the host network its plans use — its Japan page names three Japanese operators, where Airalo, Nomad, Saily and Holafly name none anywhere. What we have no read of is its Croatia listing, which is why this page still prices the market instead.

The trick worth knowing before you buy anything

In Croatia, validity is nearly free and data is not. Airalo's checked prices show it plainly: 5GB lasts a week for $9.50, or thirty days for $10.50. That is twenty-three extra days for one dollar. The same holds at 10GB — $15.50 for a week, $17.00 for a month — and at 3GB, where four extra days cost fifty cents.

So buy the longest validity in your data size unless the gap is more than a couple of dollars. Judge eSIMCard the same way: if its 30-day plans cost appreciably more than its 7-day plans for the same data, that is a mark against it.

The second thing to check is the per-gigabyte floor. The cheapest checked data in Croatia is Nomad's 50GB month at $0.62 per GB, with Airalo's at $0.70, and mid-size plans land between $1.05 and $1.70. Anything above about $2 per GB at 5GB or more is poor value here, whoever is selling it.

Unlimited is a separate market. Airalo's checked $59 for thirty days undercuts Holafly's indicative $68.90 for twenty-five, so an unlimited plan needs to beat roughly $2 a day to interest you.

Why there is no network column

We do not know which Croatian carrier eSIMCard roams onto, because we hold no read of its Croatian listing. We will not guess one.

That gap is not unique to eSIMCard. Airalo, Saily and Nomad publish no host network for Croatia, or anywhere else. Nor does Holafly, whatever the HT, A1 and Telemach trio this page used to carry against it suggested — that came from our own data, not from the company. Treat every network name in this market as ours rather than the seller's, and never let it decide your purchase.

The listing we inherited for eSIMCard also said hotspot tethering is supported. If you need to tether a laptop, confirm that on the product page before paying — it is the provider's own claim and we have not verified it.

Where signal actually fails in Croatia has nothing to do with which reseller you picked. Remote inland Lika and Gorski Kotar, several of the smaller offshore islands, the Velebit and Dinaric mountain areas away from main paths, and the deeper forest trails at Plitvice Lakes are all patchy. Should you buy it?

We cannot say, and we would rather admit it than dress up a guess. Run eSIMCard's own prices against the table above. If they sit near the checked figures for the size you need, it is a reasonable buy. If they sit well above, there are cheaper options that we have actually verified.

Two alternatives are worth a moment first. A local prepaid SIM from A1 Hrvatska or Telemach runs about $11 at the airport, with your passport for registration.
