Nomad in Croatia: the cheapest verified data in the country

The range is narrow and all one length

Nomad sells six metered Croatia plans and four unlimited ones. Every price below was read off Nomad's own site on 17 August 2026.

An earlier version of this page listed three plans and called them indicative. That was wrong in two ways. Nomad's Croatian range is twice that size: it sells a 1GB week, a 5GB month and a 50GB month we did not record at all. The 20GB month is also a dollar cheaper than we had it, at $21. The 50GB omission is the one that changes the verdict, because at 62 cents a gigabyte it is the cheapest data in Croatia from anyone.

The unlimited ladder runs $11 for three days, $18 for five, $25 for seven and $33 for ten. It stops at ten days, so a month-long stay has to be metered.

The Airalo figures used for comparison below were read directly from Airalo on 13 August 2026, so both ladders on this page are now checked.

Where Nomad wins

Everywhere the two overlap. Compare like for like against Airalo's checked thirty-day plans:

A dollar fifty at 5GB, two dollars at 10GB, four and a half at 20GB, four at 50GB. Those are real gaps — roughly 11 to 18 per cent — and 10 to 20GB is the right size for most two-week Croatia trips, where you are using maps, ferry timetables, messaging and a moderate amount of video.

At the small end it is closer. Nomad's 3GB month at $7 undercuts Airalo's checked 3GB week at $7.50, and Airalo has no 3GB month at all. At 1GB the two are level, Nomad giving a week for $4 against Airalo's three days for the same money.

The other advantage is tethering. The listing we hold for Nomad says hotspot is supported. That is not universal: Holafly's Croatia plans are listed as no-hotspot, which rules them out for anyone travelling with a laptop or sharing with a partner. If you need to tether, Nomad and Airalo are the two to weigh.

Where it loses

On short plans, and only there. An earlier version of this page said Nomad lost above 20GB, on the basis that its range stopped there and Airalo's 50GB month at $35 was the cheapest data in Croatia. Both halves of that are now wrong: Nomad sells a 50GB month, and at $31 it is four dollars under Airalo's and the cheapest gigabyte in the country at $0.62.

What Nomad genuinely lacks is a cheap short plan. Its metered range starts at $4 for 1GB over seven days, which is fine, but the next step up is a full thirty-day plan. A four-day city break wanting 3GB has to buy the month, where Airalo sells 3GB over three days for $7 and Saily sells a 1GB week at a verified $3.99.

It also loses on unlimited. Nomad's unlimited plans stop at ten days for $33, so a longer open-ended stay means Holafly — whose Croatia plans do not support tethering — or a metered plan.

The network question

Nomad publishes no host network for Croatia. An earlier version of this page said its listing named HT; that attribution is not supported by anything we hold and we have removed it.

We are strict about this because the alternative is worse. No travel eSIM in this market publishes a host network we have been able to verify — Airalo, Saily, Nomad and Holafly publish none at all, for Croatia or anywhere else, and the three-carrier listing our data once held against Holafly came from our own older text rather than from Holafly. If you specifically need to be on a named Croatian network, buy a local prepaid SIM from A1 Hrvatska or Telemach, about $11 at the airport, and bring your passport, which is required for registration.

Whatever you buy, the same places will let you down: remote inland Lika and Gorski Kotar, some of the smaller offshore islands, the Velebit and Dinaric mountain areas off the main paths, and the deeper forest trails at Plitvice Lakes. Save your maps offline before heading into any of them.

Verdict

Nomad is now the default buy in Croatia at any metered size from 3GB up. It is cheaper than Airalo at every allowance the two share, it allows tethering, and its 50GB month is the lowest per-gigabyte rate in the country at $0.62. This page previously recommended Airalo for heavy users; on the corrected figures that recommendation goes the other way.

It is still the wrong pick for a short trip below a week, and for anyone who wants unlimited data for longer than ten days. And if you are travelling from another EU country, none of this applies — your home plan already roams in Croatia at domestic rates, so buy nothing. The full comparison is on our Croatia hub.
