Holafly in Spain: an unnamed network, and a second-place price list

The network nobody names

Holafly's Spanish eSIM does not say which host it sits on. This page used to put it across Movistar, Orange and Vodafone and call that breadth the strongest thing about the product; the trio came from our own data rather than from Holafly, which names no carrier for Spain or for any of the countries we read. No rival names one either, so the network is not a point of difference — it is a blank on every plan here.

That blank matters more than it sounds. Movistar is our top-rated Spanish network — fastest average speeds, widest 5G — and our data records that it is not sold at Madrid or Barcelona airports, so putting it in your phone means a trip to a city store. No eSIM can do it for you, because none of them will say what they run on.

In cities it hardly matters: any single Spanish carrier is fine. It matters in the places our coverage notes flag as thin — the interior of Extremadura, La Mancha, the Galician interior, Pyrenean villages — and there the only way to control it is a local SIM on a network you chose yourself, about $18 at the airport with passport registration.

The price list

These were read off Holafly's own site on 18 August 2026. Spain and Italy are the two cheapest countries Holafly sells: $64.50 for a month against $73.90 across most of Europe.

A correction. This page previously printed eight rows, from a one-day plan at $5.90 to a 90-day at $139.90, and built a section around seven days and ten days both costing $29.90 — advice to skip the seven-day plan because the ten-day one was the same money. None of that holds. Holafly sells six durations, 3 to 30 days, and the seven-day plan costs $23.90 against the ten-day's $32.90. The one-day, 20-day and 90-day plans do not exist. Those figures came from our own generated dataset.

Where unlimited stops making sense

Holafly's problem in Spain is not Holafly. It is that Spanish fixed-data prices are very low. We read Airalo's Spanish checkout and found 50GB over 30 days at $39 — a verified price, and $0.78 a gigabyte. Nomad's verified 50GB month is $35.

Set that beside the 30-day unlimited plan at $64.50. You would need to burn through more than 80GB in a month before unlimited was the cheaper choice. That is a genuinely heavy month of tethered video, and if you tether you cannot use this plan at all.

The comparison is kinder at the short end. For three to five days, $17.50 for unlimited is competitive with buying a small fixed allowance, and it removes the need to estimate how much data a city break consumes. Verified 5GB for 30 days is $9, which undercuts it — but 5GB is a real constraint if you are navigating and posting all day.

Against the other unlimited plans

This is where the old verdict inverts. We used to say Holafly's month at $59.90 came in under the $63 we had verified for a rival unlimited month, making it the cheapest unlimited month in Spain. It is $64.50, so it is not.

Airalo is cheaper at all six, by 40 to 90 cents at the short end and $1.50 at the top. Holafly does beat Nomad at five, seven and ten days, which is unusual — in most of Europe Nomad is the cheapest uncapped seller and in Spain it is not.

No hotspot, and what that costs

Holafly does not support tethering. In Spain that is a sharper limitation than usual, because so many visitors travel as couples or families, and a plan that cannot be shared has to be bought twice. Two Holafly ten-day plans cost $65.80. One verified 20GB plan for 30 days, shared over a hotspot, costs $20.

If anyone in your party is carrying a laptop, this is the wrong product.

The verdict

Spain is where Holafly is at its cheapest and still not the cheapest. Airalo sells the same six uncapped windows for 40 cents to $1.50 less, allows tethering, and is equally silent about the network. There is no length at which we would pick Holafly on price.

And for most trips the unlimited question does not arise: verified fixed-data plans in Spain are cheap enough — $9 for 5GB, $20 for 20GB, $39 for 50GB — that unlimited is a comfort purchase rather than a value one.
