Nomad in Spain: level with Airalo, and cheaper at volume

The network claim, withdrawn

An earlier version of this page said two of Nomad's Spain plans carried a carrier note pointing at Movistar and Orange, and built a whole section on whether that lead was worth paying for. It was not a lead. Nomad publishes no host network in Spain or in any other country, and the pairing had been scraped out of older generated prose. It has gone, and so has the argument resting on it.

Nobody in this market gives you a checkable answer on carriers. Airalo, Saily and Holafly publish nothing for Spain — the operators once credited to Holafly's own listing came from our data rather than from Holafly — eSIM Go has no consumer page at all, and we hold no read of eSIMCard's Spanish listing.

The ladder, read at source

Every price below was read from Nomad's own site on 17 August 2026. An earlier version of this page listed four plans, all of them unchecked, and two of the prices were roughly a third too high.

Unlimited runs alongside it at $11 for three days, $18 for five, $25 for seven and $33 for ten.

Worth knowing before you read any of this as a Spanish price: Nomad charges the identical ladder in France. It is a tiering policy applied across a region rather than a reading of Spanish wholesale costs.

Against the prices we have checked

Airalo's and Saily's Spanish plans were read off their own sites on 13 August 2026. All three columns are now verified, so this is a straight comparison.

Level at 5GB and 10GB, a dollar behind at 20GB, and $4 ahead at 50GB — where $0.70 a gigabyte is the cheapest rate anyone sells in Spain. This page used to say Nomad was the most expensive metered option in the country and dearer than Airalo at every size. Both statements were wrong, and both came from prices nobody had read off a checkout.

At the entry end it is closer: Nomad's 1GB for seven days at $4.00 matches Airalo's 1GB, though Airalo's runs three days rather than seven, and Saily's verified $3.99 for seven days is a penny cheaper.

Unlimited goes the other way. Nomad's $11 for three days matches Airalo exactly, but at five days Airalo charges $17 against $18, at seven $23.50 against $25, and at ten $32 against $33. Spain is one of the markets where Airalo prices unlimited keenly, so buy it there rather than from Nomad.

Practicalities and the coverage question

Hotspot tethering works on all Nomad's Spain plans, so a laptop can share the connection. There are no calls or SMS — data only, with WhatsApp and similar apps carrying conversations.

As for coverage, Spanish signal fails in the same places regardless of who sold you the eSIM: the rural interior of Extremadura and La Mancha, parts of the Pyrenean hiking routes, remote Camino de Santiago stages through the forested Galician interior, and rural corners of the smaller Canary Islands. Nothing on this market fixes those.

Verdict

Buy Nomad in Spain if you want volume: its 50GB month at $35 is the cheapest data in the country and $4 below Airalo's equivalent. At 5GB and 10GB the two are level, so pick on whichever app or account you already have. At 20GB Airalo is a dollar cheaper, and for unlimited it is cheaper at most durations.
