Nomad in Slovakia: one size where it wins, and it is not the one we said
Nomad sells ten Slovak plans, not the two we used to hold, and every price has now been read off Nomad's own site. Nomad's 20 GB month at $20 beats Airalo's $24. Almost everything else does not.

What we used to hold, and what is actually there
This page previously described Nomad's Slovak range as two plans wide: 3GB for $7, really $9, and 10GB for $14, really $16 — both over thirty days, both marked indicative, and both, we said, the cheapest of their size in the country.
Neither price had been read off Nomad's site. Neither was right. Nomad sells ten Slovak plans, six metered and four unlimited, and the whole ladder was read off nomadesim.com on 17 August 2026:

Where it wins now
20GB. This is the one. Nomad charges $20 for a 20GB month against Airalo's checked $24, and the per-gigabyte rate of $1.00 is the best metered rate in Slovakia short of Airalo's 50GB plan. If you are in the country for a fortnight with a laptop, this is the plan.
Unlimited, at every length Nomad sells it. $11, $18, $25 and $33 against Airalo's $11.50, $18.50, $27.00 and $34.50 for the same three, five, seven and ten days. Holafly's five-day equivalent is an indicative $19. Nomad is the cheapest checked unlimited in Slovakia, though it stops at ten days where Airalo runs to thirty.
10GB is a tie. $16.00 each, over the same thirty days. The old claim that Nomad undercut Airalo here by $2 rested on the wrong number.
Where it does not
Below 10GB, Airalo is cheaper at every size. Its 5GB month is $10.50 against Nomad's $12.50. Its 3GB week is $7.50 against Nomad's $9.00 month — Nomad still buys you twenty-three more days, so the old advice to take the longer window is not silly, but it now costs $1.50 rather than nothing. And at 1GB, Saily's indicative $3.99 for seven days and Airalo's verified $4.00 for three both come in under Nomad's $4.50.
At the top the gap is wider and runs the other way from the one this page used to describe. Airalo's 50GB month is $36 against Nomad's $45 — $9, or a quarter. Nomad's per-gigabyte curve flattens after 20GB; Airalo's keeps falling to $0.72. If you need real volume in Slovakia, Airalo has it.
Network, tethering and coverage
An earlier version of this page said Nomad's own listing pointed to T-Mobile SK and Orange. Nomad publishes no host network for Slovakia, or for any other country, and neither do Airalo, Saily or Holafly. The Slovak operators once shown against Holafly's rows came from the same generated data, not from Holafly. Nothing on this page rests on which network you land on, because nobody knows.
The source we hold describes Nomad's Slovak plans as supporting hotspot tethering. That is worth confirming at checkout if you intend to work off a laptop, but it is a genuine point of difference from Holafly, which is listed as not permitting it.
Slovak coverage is strong across the country and thin in specific, predictable places: the High Tatras ridges above the ski resort areas, remote valley hiking trails, and some eastern border regions. Domica, the Ochtinská Aragonite Cave and the other show caves have no signal underground. No travel eSIM lets you choose which network you land on, so none of the providers on this page can fix those gaps.
The verdict, and the alternatives
Buy Nomad in Slovakia for 20GB, or for an unlimited window of ten days or less. Those are real wins on prices both sides of which have been checked.
Do not buy it for a short light trip, where Airalo and Saily are cheaper, or for 50GB, where Airalo is $9 cheaper. And the older version of this page put Nomad's 10GB month first for a normal week or two; at $16 it is level with Airalo rather than ahead, so that is now a coin toss rather than a recommendation.

Which Nomad plan should I buy for a week in Slovakia?
If 10GB is the size you want, it costs $16.00 and so does Airalo's, so there is nothing between them. An earlier version of this answer put Nomad's 10GB at $14 rather than $16 and called it $2 cheaper; that figure had never been read off Nomad's site and it was wrong. Nomad's real bargain in Slovakia is a size up: 20GB for $20 against Airalo's $24.
Does Nomad have an unlimited Slovakia plan?
Yes — four of them, and this page used to say there were none. They run $11 for three days, $18 for five, $25 for seven and $33 for ten, all checked on 18 August 2026, and each undercuts Airalo at the same length. Nothing from Nomad runs longer than ten days; for a full month of unlimited, Airalo's $69 is the only checked option.
Will Nomad work in the High Tatras?
In the resort towns and valleys, yes — Slovak coverage there is good. On the ridges above the ski areas and on remote valley trails there are gaps that affect every provider equally, and no travel eSIM lets you select a network to work around them. For safety-critical mountain days, plan around having no signal rather than around a particular eSIM.
