Orange Slovakia SIM card: the Prima prepaid card and eSIM
Orange Slovakia's Prima card costs 5 euros and advertises 30 GB on 5G with top-ups. It activates on a first call made inside Slovakia.
Is an Orange Slovakia SIM card a good choice for a visitor?
For a stay of several weeks, yes, with caveats. An Orange Slovakia SIM card is the Prima prepaid card, sold as a plastic SIM or eSIM, with data on 5G where available. It is not a tourist product, and you have to top up to unlock the data bonuses.
What does Orange Prima cost?
Orange's Prima Voľba page (read 8 October 2026) says the card costs EUR 5, with no commitment, and credit lasts six months. Calls in Slovakia and the EU cost EUR 0.1025 a minute. Add-on packages listed include 10 GB for EUR 10.25, 5 GB for EUR 8.20, 1 GB for EUR 3.08, and a daily 1 GB for EUR 1.03.
The headline is 30 GB of data on 5G, which depends on topping up. After a first top-up of at least EUR 7, you can activate 10 GB for 30 days within 31 days of registration, and a EUR 7 top-up each month unlocks another 10 GB, up to three times. Of each 10 GB, 6.25 GB can be used in the EU without a surcharge. Topping up online earns a 3 percent reward.
How do you get an Orange Slovakia eSIM, and is ID needed?
If you buy a new Prima card in a shop, you can ask for an eSIM there. If you already hold a plastic Prima SIM, you can generate an eSIM yourself in the customer zone. The card activates on your first call, which the page says must be made within Slovakia, or by SMS or activating a bundle. Benefits must be activated via the Môj Orange app, SMS to 445, or in a shop.
The page does not say which ID documents are required, so we cannot say. Slovak operators register prepaid users, so take a passport to a shop.
What does Orange say about 5G and coverage?
The page says data is on 5G, and phones without 5G use 4G. It does not promise 5G where you are and links a coverage map. Our own notes say Orange is strong in cities and 5G, and that High Tatras resorts are covered on main roads, which we could not confirm on Orange's pages.
Orange Slovakia SIM card or a travel eSIM?
A travel eSIM is bought at home and works at landing. The Orange card is cheaper for a long stay but means a shop visit, a first call inside Slovakia and top-ups to get the bonus data. No travel eSIM provider except eSIMCard publishes its host network. See our Slovakia comparison and cheapest eSIM. Other Slovak options: Slovak Telekom and O2 Slovakia. Start from the Slovakia hub.
Common questions
How much is an Orange Slovakia SIM card?
Orange's Prima Voľba card costs EUR 5 with no commitment, and credit lasts six months. Packages listed include 1 GB for EUR 3.08 and 10 GB for EUR 10.25. Check the page for the current prices and bonus rules.
Does Orange Slovakia have an eSIM?
Yes. Orange says that for a new Prima card bought in a shop you can ask for an eSIM, and that if you already have a plastic Prima SIM you can generate an eSIM yourself in the customer zone.
Do I need ID to buy an Orange Slovakia SIM?
The Prima page does not say which ID documents are required, so we cannot confirm. Prepaid cards are registered, so take your passport to an Orange shop and ask what a visitor needs.
Can I activate an Orange Slovakia SIM before I arrive?
The page says the card activates on the first call, which must be made within Slovakia, or by SMS or activating a bundle. It does not describe a pre-arrival route, so plan on activating after you land.
Is Orange Slovakia better than a travel eSIM?
Orange is cheaper for a longer stay and gives a Slovak number, but needs a shop visit and top-ups for bonus data. A travel eSIM can be installed before departure. We cannot say which network any travel eSIM uses.
