eSIM Go in Romania: we hold nothing, so here is the market instead

eSIM Go does not sell to travellers

Before anything else on this page: eSIM Go sells wholesale to resellers, not to the public. We opened esim-go.com on 18 August 2026 and found no consumer price anywhere on the site — no basket, no checkout, Contact Sales where a shop puts Buy now, and no per-country consumer pages, which return 404.

So there is no Romania plan to price, no product page for you to check, and nothing on eSIM Go's site to hold against the market below. The 34 rows we do hold for it, spread across 16 large countries, cannot be verified for the same reason: there is no published consumer price to read them against. What this page no longer claims

We hold no eSIM Go plan for Romania. No price, no allowance, no validity window — not one row in our data.

The previous version of this page quoted a 3GB monthly plan at eight dollars and said the service ran on Orange and Vodafone. Both came from a generated corpus, and when we checked that corpus's prices against providers' own sites, most were wrong. Nothing supports either statement, so both have been deleted rather than repeated. We do not hold a host network for eSIM Go in Romania, and we will not infer one from what other brands appear to use.

That may mean eSIM Go does not sell a Romania plan, or it may mean we have not captured one. We are not going to pretend to know which. What we can do is give you the market it would have to beat.

The Romania prices we do hold

Airalo's Romania plans — sold under its Noroc label at checkout — were read from Airalo's own site on 13 August 2026. Nomad's were read from nomadesim.com on 17 August 2026. Saily's and Holafly's figures are indicative: they sit in our dataset without a recent check at source, so treat them as the shape of the market rather than as quotes.

How to price an eSIM Go quote

Three numbers do most of the work.

About $4 is the floor. Every provider we hold starts within pennies of it — Saily at $3.99 for a gigabyte over a week, Airalo at $4.00 for a gigabyte over three days. A Romania eSIM that opens above $5 is not competitive at the small end.

Nomad sets the ceiling on capped data. Its $16.00 for a 10GB month and $20.00 for 20GB are the lowest per-gigabyte figures at those sizes, and Airalo's equivalents are $18.00 and $28.00. Both sets have now been read at source. Anything quoted above $16 for a 10GB month is beaten by a price somebody has checked.

Duration is nearly free here. Airalo charges $10.00 for 5GB over seven days and $11.00 for the same 5GB over thirty; $17.00 against $18.00 at 10GB. A provider that charges a large premium for a longer window is out of step with the Romanian market.

One structural point, corrected: an earlier version of this page said 20GB is the largest capped plan sold for Romania. It is not. Nomad sells 50GB over 30 days for $45, which is $0.90 a gigabyte and the cheapest rate in the country. If you would rather buy unlimited, the verified figures are Nomad's $11.00 for three days, $18.00 for five, $25.00 for seven and $33.00 for ten, against Airalo's $18.50 for five days, $34.50 for ten and $69.00 for thirty.

The parts price does not cover

Tethering. The old page said eSIM Go supported hotspot in Romania, which was never checkable and is now moot. We cannot verify that, and it genuinely varies by brand — Holafly's Romania plans do not allow tethering at all. If a laptop needs to share the connection, confirm it before paying, not after.

Coverage, which no eSIM lets you choose. Romania's dead zones are geographic and shared by everyone: remote Carpathian trails above roughly 1,600 metres, the Danube Delta's reed channels once you are on the water away from the villages, and very remote rural settlements in the Moldova region. Bucharest, Cluj, Brașov, Timișoara and the roads between them are unremarkable. No travel eSIM in our data lets you pick which network you land on, so if signal in the mountains is critical, that argues for a local SIM rather than for any particular brand.

Two alternatives worth pricing first

Romania is in the EU. If your home plan is an EU or EEA one, roam-like-at-home normally means it works there at domestic rates and you need to buy nothing at all. Check your contract before you shop.

If you want a local number, a prepaid SIM from Orange Romania, Vodafone Romania, Digi or Telekom Romania runs about $13 at the airport. Registration requires a passport or ID card at the counter, which is the real cost — it is a queue and a form rather than a QR code. Note that $13 is more than Airalo's verified $11.00 for 5GB over a month, so Romania is not a country where the local SIM obviously wins on price.
