eSIMCard for Norway: an empty row in our price table

The honest starting point

We have no eSIMCard plans for Norway. Not a price, not a data size, not a validity window. Our Norway table is built from four sellers — Airalo, Saily, Nomad and Holafly — and eSIMCard is not among them.

An earlier version of this page did carry a Norway price for eSIMCard and named Telenor as the carrier behind it. Neither figure came from eSIMCard. Both were lifted from generated text whose prices, once we started checking them against real checkouts, turned out wrong about nine times in ten. We removed them rather than tidy them up. The one non-price detail from that page worth repeating is that eSIMCard's Norway product was listed as allowing hotspot tethering; we have not tested that.

So this page cannot review eSIMCard's Norway plans. What it can do is tell you what those plans would have to beat.

Why we hold no eSIMCard price anywhere now

This blank used to be specific to Norway. It no longer is. We carried 78 eSIMCard rows across 31 countries; on 18 August 2026 we read eSIMCard's own pages and found them wrong, and every one of those rows has been withdrawn from the tables and from the cheapest-per-gigabyte ranking.

We could not replace them with the right figures either. eSIMCard prices the same size over the same duration at two or three different amounts, depending on a Standard/Universal toggle, a per-plan speed limit hidden inside each plan's details modal, and carrier sets that vary plan by plan. Our records hold only provider, size, days and price, so any single figure we stored would flatten a throttled plan and a full-speed one into one row. Our eSIMCard page sets out the reasoning.

None of that is a verdict on the shop. eSIMCard has a working checkout, a catalogue far wider than our rows ever showed, and it is the only one of the six sellers here that publishes the host network its plans use — its Japan page names three Japanese operators, where Airalo, Nomad, Saily and Holafly name none anywhere. What we have no read of is its Norway listing, which is why this page still prices the market instead.

Norway's oddity: extra weeks are nearly free

Every Airalo row in our Norway data was read off Airalo's own checkout on 13 August 2026. Laid out by duration, the ladder is striking:

One dollar buys 23 extra days at 5 GB. Fifty cents does it at 20 GB per fortnight. Nothing else in the Norwegian market is priced this flatly, and it changes the sensible buying rule: unless you are certain of your trip length, take the 30-day version. The cost of being wrong about duration is roughly the price of a coffee, while running out of validity mid-trip means buying a whole second plan.

The corresponding trap is buying too little data. A 1 GB starter works out around $4 a gigabyte; the 50 GB month lands near $0.72 on Airalo's verified $36. Nomad's 50 GB, now verified too, is $45, or about $0.90. Data is where Norway charges you, not time.

Saily barely offers the choice: its only short option is 1 GB for 7 days at $3.99. Its prices have now been read off Saily's own checkout, on 18 August 2026. Nomad's ten Norway rows were read off Nomad's own site on 17 August 2026. An earlier version of this page said every Nomad row we hold is a 30-day plan; that was wrong. Five of its six metered plans run 30 days, 1 GB for 7 days at $4.50 is the exception, and its four unlimited plans are sold by the day at $11 for three up to $33 for ten.

What we know about networks here, which is little

For eSIMCard we hold nothing. That is also true of Airalo, Saily and Nomad in Norway: none publishes a host carrier. Holafly is in the same position, whatever the Telenor, Telia and Ice listing this page used to carry against it suggested — that came from our own data rather than from Holafly.

This matters in Norway more than in flatter countries. Coverage is excellent along the coast and the main road network and thins out predictably: the Hardangervidda and Finnmarksvidda plateaus, remote valleys in Sogn og Fjordane, deep fjord side valleys away from main roads, and open sea beyond roughly 12 km. If your itinerary includes any of those, no travel eSIM can promise you the network that handles them best, because none will say which network you are on. A local prepaid SIM bought from the carrier you want is the only way to make that choice deliberately.

The local alternative, and the EEA answer

Norway is in the EEA, so an EU or EEA phone contract roams there at home rates. For a large share of visitors that ends the question before it starts.

If you need to buy, a prepaid SIM from Telenor Norway, Telia Norway or Ice costs about $18 at the airport and requires a passport or ID to register. Travel eSIMs ask for no ID, activate before you land, and undercut that $18 at every size below 20 GB in our table. The local SIM's advantage is coverage you choose and a Norwegian number, not price.

Verdict

There is nothing to recommend or reject. Judge whatever its Norway page shows you against the verified numbers here: $9.50 for 5 GB over a week, $17 for 10 GB over a month, $36 for 50 GB. Anything close to those is competitive; anything above them is not worth the extra step of buying from a seller whose Norwegian pricing we have never checked.

We would add eSIMCard to the table if we could store its plans; as things stand we cannot, for the reason set out above. Until then, the Norway hub has the four providers we can stand behind.
