eSIM Go in New Zealand: nothing on sale, and no network named

What is confirmed

One thing, and it is the whole review. eSIM Go sells wholesale to resellers rather than to travellers. Checked on 18 August 2026, esim-go.com carries no consumer price anywhere: no basket, no checkout, Contact Sales instead of Buy now, and no per-country consumer pages, which return 404.

So there is no New Zealand product to price. The older advice on this page — that you would find a price on eSIM Go's own product page — pointed at a page that does not exist, and it has gone. Our eSIM Go platform page sets out the full finding.

What we removed

The hotspot tick. This page opened by crediting eSIM Go's New Zealand product with tethering, and made something of it against Holafly. That came from this site's own generated corpus and was never checkable. The Holafly half stands: it does not offer a hotspot, so if you are tethering a laptop from a campervan, rule it out.

The implied comparison. A supplier that does not sell to you is not one of the options, so there is nothing to weigh on value. What follows is the market you can buy from.

The network is the part that matters here

Spark is the network to want in New Zealand. It is the only carrier our notes credit with covering the Milford Road into Milford Sound, the West Coast and remote South Island routes — the roads a South Island itinerary actually uses. One NZ is solid in urban areas and has real rural gaps, which the country's low population density and terrain make hard to fix.

Even a seller that lists both networks does not tell you which one your phone selects on arrival, and almost none of them lists anything at all. What you can plan around is where nothing works at all: Milford Sound itself has no mobile signal, and neither do Fiordland National Park, the West Coast hinterland, Central Otago back roads, remote stretches of the Abel Tasman coastal track or the Tongariro Alpine Crossing summit area. Across the country we record an average speed of 72 Mbps, which is comfortable for anything short of large uploads.

Priced alternatives, and what they say about the network

The carriers our own data carried against eSIMCard's rows here came from this site's generated text rather than from eSIMCard, so we no longer repeat them — it is the only one of the six that publishes a host network at all, so its own listing is the place to look. Airalo, Nomad, Saily and Holafly publish no New Zealand network at all — the same pair once sat against Saily's and Holafly's rows on our data rather than theirs — and eSIM Go has no consumer page on which it could publish one. Airalo's rows were read from its site on 13 August 2026 and Nomad's from its own on 18 August; the others are indicative.

For a longer trip the useful numbers are further up the range: Nomad's verified 20GB for 30 days at $28 works out at $1.40 per gigabyte, and Airalo's verified 50GB for 30 days at $49 is under a dollar. Those two are the value floor in this country, and worth judging anything else against.

Verdict

You cannot buy eSIM Go for New Zealand at all, and the tethering advantage this page once gave it was our invention rather than the company's claim.

Judge the sellers that do have checkouts against $1.40 a gigabyte, which is where Nomad's verified 20GB month sits, and under a dollar, which is Airalo's verified 50GB month. And on a South Island self-drive the network gap is the expensive one: if the Milford Road is on your route, buy a Spark SIM locally rather than trusting any travel eSIM to land you there.
