Holafly in New Zealand: six plans, and no reason left to buy
Holafly sells only unlimited data in New Zealand, from $11.90 for three days to $73.90 for a month. This page used to price that month at $47 and recommend it against Airalo's 50GB at $49; the real figure is $73.90.

Six plans, all unlimited
Holafly does not sell a small plan in New Zealand. There is no 1GB option, no capped tier of any size — just unlimited data in six durations, with no calls and no SMS.

These prices were read off Holafly's own site on 18 August 2026. Those six windows — 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 days — are the whole range, here and in every country Holafly sells.
A correction, and it inverts this page. We previously listed four plans: five days at $19, ten at $27, fifteen at $36.90 and thirty at $47. Every one was far too low, the month by $26.90, and the whole argument rested on that $47: we told you Holafly's unlimited month cost two dollars less than Airalo's verified 50GB plan, so the only question was whether you would exceed 50GB. At $73.90 that comparison is gone. Airalo's 50GB month at $49 is now $24.90 cheaper than Holafly's unlimited, not two dollars dearer.
The ladder also does not reward a long stay the way we said. The daily rate falls from $3.97 to $2.46, not from $3.80 to $1.57.
The comparison that actually decides it

Holafly is the dearest uncapped plan in New Zealand at all six lengths. Nomad is cheapest wherever it competes.
The sharper comparison is still not unlimited against unlimited. Airalo's verified 50GB/30-day plan is $49 — $24.90 less than Holafly's unlimited month. Fifty gigabytes is a great deal of data for a holiday; most travellers doing maps, messaging, photo backup and some streaming will not come close.
Drop below that and the case disappears entirely. Airalo's verified 20GB month is $38, Nomad's is $28 and Saily's is $37.99 — all well under half Holafly's month for an amount of data that covers most trips twice over.
What we know about the network: not enough
Our dataset used to carry "Spark NZ / One NZ" against two of Holafly's New Zealand plans and nothing at all against the others. Those entries were pulled out of older generated text, which is not a source: Holafly's own site names no carrier for New Zealand, or for any of the countries we read. Nobody here will tell you which network you land on.
We are flagging that rather than glossing it because in New Zealand the host network is one of the few things that would genuinely change a recommendation. Spark, One NZ and 2degrees do not perform identically once you are off State Highway 1, and an eSIM's value in Fiordland depends entirely on whose masts it is using. We cannot tell you whose those are, so we will not pretend the choice is informed.
The dead zones are not in dispute. Milford Sound has no mobile signal at all. Fiordland National Park, the West Coast hinterland, Central Otago back roads and the remote sections of the Abel Tasman coastal track are all patchy or empty. Unlimited data is worth exactly nothing in those places, which is worth remembering before you pay a premium for it.
Who should buy this
On these prices, nobody buying on cost. The campervan case this page used to make — two weeks or more, a laptop or a second traveller tethered to your phone — has two problems now: Holafly is the dearest uncapped option at every length, and our older text's claim that hotspot use was supported came from the same generated data as the wrong prices. Holafly blocks tethering in many countries, so check the terms before relying on it.
Most people should buy capped. Airalo's verified 5GB month is $14, Saily's is $13.99 and its 1GB week is $3.99, and Airalo's largest bucket, 50GB, costs $24.90 less than Holafly's unlimited month. New Zealand also asks for no ID on a prepaid SIM and sells one at the airport for around $15, which buys you a local number on top.

Does Holafly work in Milford Sound and Fiordland?
No, and neither does anything else. Milford Sound has no mobile signal, and coverage across Fiordland, the West Coast hinterland and Central Otago back roads ranges from patchy to absent. That is a limitation of New Zealand's physical network rather than of any eSIM. Download offline maps and tell someone your route before you head into those areas.
