Holafly in the Netherlands: unlimited data at a small premium

Holafly sells one thing here: days, not gigabytes

Holafly's Dutch range is six unlimited plans that differ only in how long they run — three, five, seven, ten, fifteen or thirty days. No small starter plan, no top-up decision, no data counter. There are no calls or SMS: messaging runs over data, so WhatsApp and iMessage are fine, but this product cannot receive an SMS code sent to a Dutch number.

On tethering, our older text said hotspot use was supported on all the Dutch plans. We hold nothing verified either way, and Holafly blocks tethering in a number of other countries, so check the terms on the plan you are buying rather than assuming.

What it costs

These were read off Holafly's own site on 18 August 2026.

A correction. The table here used to read $11.70, $19.50, $27.30, $34, $50.90 and $74.90, and made a point of the first three coming to exactly $3.90 a day. There is no flat rate: five days costs more per day than three, and only the month drops under $3. Every figure in the old table was wrong, most of them low, and they came from our own generated dataset rather than from Holafly.

The practical reading of the real ladder: past a week, buy the longer plan rather than stacking two short ones. Ten days at $36.50 costs $9 more than seven and buys three extra days — $3 each, cheaper than any day you were already paying for.

Airalo is cheaper at every length, and Nomad cheaper again

Airalo sells unlimited plans in the Netherlands at exactly the same six durations, and Nomad sells four of them.

This is a consistent premium rather than a rout: Airalo's gap runs from 40 cents to $4.90. But there is no length at which Holafly is the cheaper unlimited plan here, and at ten days — where this page previously said the two were level — Airalo is $2.50 under. If unlimited is what you want in the Netherlands, Airalo's ladder is the same ladder for slightly less, and Nomad's is less again for the first four rungs.

Unlimited against counting gigabytes

The bigger question is whether unlimited earns its price here at all. Airalo's verified metered plans run to 50GB over 30 days for $36 — roughly 72 cents a gigabyte. Holafly's 30-day unlimited is more than double that. Spend $73.90 at Airalo's metered rate and you are buying something like 100GB, which is sustained video streaming, not maps, messaging and a few hours of scrolling a day. Nomad's verified 20GB month at $20 is the sensible middle.

At the light end the gap is wider again. Airalo's verified 1GB over three days is $4, and Saily's verified 1GB over seven days is $3.99. A weekend in Amsterdam does not need $11.90 of unlimited data. A Dutch physical SIM is easy to buy too — no ID required, so it is instant, at around $18 at the airport — and if you carry an EU or EEA plan you already roam here at your domestic rate and should buy nothing.

Network and coverage

Our data used to carry Vodafone Netherlands against Holafly's two shortest Dutch plans and nothing against the longer ones. That came from our own older records, not from Holafly: its pages name no operator for the Netherlands, or for any of the countries we have read, so there is no network claim here to let decide your purchase. Airalo, Nomad and Saily publish nothing for any country either.

In practice the Netherlands is about as forgiving a country for mobile data as exists: flat, small and densely populated, with virtually no gaps that matter to a tourist. The exceptions are minor — patchier signal on some of the North Sea Wadden Islands, and slightly weaker coverage inside the Hoge Veluwe forest — and they affect every provider equally.

Verdict

Holafly works in the Netherlands and its plans are honest about what they are. It is simply not the best-priced version of the product it sells here, in a country where unlimited data is hard to justify in the first place. Buy it if you are a heavy user who does not want to think about a meter and you already trust the brand.
