eSIMCard in Iceland: the cheap unlimited month has gone from our data

One row, and it has gone

We held exactly one eSIMCard plan for Iceland: unlimited data over thirty days, priced well below what any verified seller charges for the same thing. This review spent its length asking what that price could possibly buy. The row has now been withdrawn — out of the table here and out of the cheapest-per-gigabyte ranking across the site.

They used to carry an indicative label — our figure, not read off a live checkout, but presumed to be somewhere near the mark. On 18 August 2026 we read eSIMCard's own pages, and that presumption failed. The entry plan our data priced identically across fifteen unrelated countries sells for well under half of it on eSIMCard's Japanese page, and the sizes we listed match neither of the tiers it actually offers. A figure you have checked and found wrong is not indicative; it is wrong.

We could not put the right prices in their place either. Our records hold a plan as four things — provider, size, days, price — and eSIMCard's catalogue does not resolve to four things. A Standard/Universal toggle swaps its whole range between two product lines, each plan carries a speed-limit flag that only appears inside its own details modal, and the carrier list varies from plan to plan. What an eSIM for Iceland actually costs

Network: nothing published

We hold no Icelandic carrier for any seller in our data, and we will not infer one — not from what other providers use, and not from what the old version of this page claimed. Anywhere you see a travel eSIM described as running on a named Icelandic operator, that is somebody's guess unless the seller published it.

This is the single biggest caveat for Iceland specifically, because coverage here is a network question more than a provider question. Síminn has the strongest reputation for reach outside populated areas. If you are driving the F-roads into the interior — Kjölur, Sprengisandur, the approaches to Landmannalaugar — there is no coverage from anyone, and no eSIM changes that. The same goes for the highlands generally, minor roads in the remote Westfjords, and some fjord valleys in the north and east. Carry an offline map and tell someone your route; that advice does not depend on which SIM is in your phone.

What the missing network information does cost you is the ability to choose deliberately. If reaching a signal in a marginal spot matters to your trip, buying a local SIM lets you pick your operator. In Iceland that is unusually easy: no ID is required, purchase is instant, and airport SIMs run to around $20.

What eSIMCard still does that nobody else does

eSIMCard is the only one of the six sellers on this site that publishes the host network at all. We read that directly: its Japan page names three Japanese operators against its plans, in a Supported Countries & Networks block. Airalo, Nomad, Saily and Holafly name no operator in any country, and eSIM Go has no consumer page on which it could. That is a genuine difference, and the price check left it untouched.

For this country our records never held a carrier against its rows, so there is nothing here for us to retract — only a listing worth opening, since no rival publishes one at all. Iceland is the country on this site where it would be worth most, because coverage here is a network question far more than a provider question.

Verdict

We have no Icelandic price for eSIMCard and will not print one until its catalogue can be stored properly. That is a gap in our records rather than a verdict on the shop.
