Holafly in Iceland: unlimited data, and no length where it wins

Holafly sells one thing for Iceland — unlimited data — in six durations. These prices were read off Holafly's own site on 18 August 2026.

A correction, and it removes this page's main recommendation. We previously listed a one-day Icelandic plan at $6.90 and told you to buy it for a Keflavík stopover, on the grounds that almost nobody else prices for that trip. Holafly does not sell a one-day plan, in Iceland or anywhere. It sells 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 days. The 20-day plan we listed at $54.90 does not exist either, and the four real durations we did print were all underpriced.

The taper is also less smooth than we described. Five days costs more per day than three, because $8.60 buys only two extra days. The only real drop is at thirty.

If you are on a Keflavík stopover, Holafly's shortest option is now three days at $11.90 — and Airalo and Nomad both sell three uncapped days for $11.

Every length has a cheaper equivalent

Airalo and Nomad both sell unlimited Icelandic data, read off their own sites.

Holafly is the dearest at all six. This page used to say it won at ten days and fifteen; it did so on prices that were $3.60 and $5.60 below what Holafly charges.

Where the month falls apart

At the long end the maths turns sharply. A month of Holafly unlimited is $73.90. Airalo sells 50GB with 30 days of validity for a verified $49, and Nomad sells 50GB for $45. Airalo's own unlimited month is $69.

Fifty gigabytes is not unlimited, but for one traveller in Iceland it is functionally the same thing. You would have to stream several hours of video a day for a month to exhaust it. Paying $28.90 more than Nomad's 50GB to remove a cap you were never going to reach is not a good trade.

And if you are a light user, none of this applies. Airalo's verified 5GB month is $12, its 10GB month $19.50, and Nomad's 10GB month is $16. On a normal photography-and-maps trip, one of those is the sensible buy and unlimited is a category you can skip entirely.

The network claim we withdrew

Holafly's own listing for Iceland points to no host network at all. The Síminn and Vodafone Iceland pairing this page used to show came from our own older data rather than from Holafly, which names no carrier for Iceland or for any of the countries we have read. That is a pity, because Síminn has the best reputation for coverage away from the populated coast — but no travel eSIM will promise it to you, and we would not tell you to buy expecting it.

What is certainly true is that Iceland's coverage limits are geographic, not commercial. There is no signal on the F-roads through the interior — Kjölur, Sprengisandur, the access routes to Landmannalaugar — and none in the highlands generally. Minor roads in the remote Westfjords are patchy, as are some fjord valleys in the north and east. Unlimited data is worth nothing in those places, and no provider can sell you a way around it. If you specifically want Síminn, the direct route is a local SIM. Iceland requires no ID to buy one, purchase is instant, and airport SIMs run to around $20.

Verdict

There is no Iceland trip we would now route to Holafly on price. The stopover plan that made this page's case does not exist; Nomad's uncapped plans are $0.90 to $3.50 cheaper at every length up to ten days; Airalo is cheaper at all six and cheaper again for the month.

And don't buy unlimited at all if 5GB would cover you, which for most Iceland trips it will — $12 against $73.90 is the real spread here.
