Holafly in Egypt: unlimited data, priced above everyone else

Six plans, one product

Holafly sells only unlimited data for Egypt. There is no 1GB starter and no 10GB month; you choose a number of days and pay for it. These prices were read off Holafly's own site on 18 August 2026, and these six windows are the entire range — 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 days, here and in every other country Holafly sells.

A correction. This page used to be built around a kink in that ladder: it printed $11.70 for three days, $19.50 for five and then a jump to $36.90 for seven, and told you the seven-day plan cost more per day than the ten-day one and should never be bought. On the real prices there is no kink. The per-day rate falls at every step, from $6.63 to $3.20, and the seven-day plan is simply the seven-day plan. The old figures came from our own generated dataset and were wrong at five of the six rungs — the month by $21.

There is still a step worth knowing about. Seven days costs $36.50 and ten days costs $39.50. Three dollars buys three extra days, so if your trip is anywhere near a week, the ten-day plan is almost always the better purchase.

No plan includes calls or SMS. On tethering, our older text said hotspot was supported here; we hold nothing verified either way and Holafly's policy differs by country, so read the plan's own terms if you need to share the connection.

How it sits against the rest of Egypt

Holafly's rivals on unlimited are Airalo and Nomad, and both were read off their own sites.

Nomad is the cheapest uncapped plan in Egypt at every length it sells, by $4.50 to $9.50. Airalo is cheaper than Holafly at all six. Holafly is last in every row — including the month, which this page previously said it took "decisively" at $74.90 against Airalo's $90. It does not; it costs $95.90.

Against metered data the comparison is less brutal than in most markets, because Egypt is an expensive place to buy gigabytes. Airalo's verified 20GB month is $42, which is $2.10 a gigabyte; at that rate Holafly's $95.90 month is the equivalent of roughly 46GB, or about 1.5GB a day. That is a threshold plenty of travellers cross without trying — maps, video calls, uploading photos from Luxor. It is still a threshold most will not cross, and Nomad's verified 20GB month at $37 makes the sum worse for Holafly again.

Short trips are the clearest loss. Nomad's verified 3GB month is $12 and Airalo's verified 5GB month is $20. Three gigabytes will not cover heavy use, but for a five-day stop of messaging and navigation it usually does, and $28.90 for five days of unlimited is a lot to pay for headroom you may not use.

Network and paperwork

Holafly's own listing for Egypt names no carrier. The Vodafone Egypt and Orange Egypt pairing this page used to show sat against only two of the six Holafly rows in our data, and reading Holafly's own pages established where it came from: our older records, not the seller, which publishes no host network for Egypt or for any country. Nothing we recommend here depended on it.

The thing worth knowing about Egyptian coverage is where it stops. Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, Aswan and the Red Sea resorts are fine on any network. The Western Desert thins quickly — Siwa is reachable, the deep interior is not — and there are dead stretches on the road south of Luxor towards Abu Simbel and through the mountains of interior Sinai. Unlimited data is worth nothing where there is no signal, and no travel eSIM will let you choose the carrier most likely to have one.

One clear administrative win: an eSIM needs no passport. A local Egyptian SIM has to be registered against your passport at the point of sale, costs around $8 at an airport counter, and means a queue on arrival. Buying online before you fly avoids all of it.

Verdict

There is no length at which we would send you to Holafly for Egypt on price. Nomad's unlimited is $4.50 to $9.50 cheaper at every window it sells, Airalo's is cheaper at all six, and the two points this page used to single out as clear buys — the short weekend plan and the month — were both priced on figures Holafly does not charge.

If your usage is modest, a metered plan costs a good deal less again: Nomad's verified 3GB month at $12 or 10GB at $28 will outlast a fortnight of ordinary travel. Full provider comparison on the Egypt hub.
