Orange Egypt SIM card: prepaid and eSIM for visitors

Orange Egypt says outright that tourists can get an eSIM, at EGP 350 for a new line. It does not publish a dedicated tourist bundle.

Is an Orange Egypt SIM card a good choice for a visitor?

An Orange Egypt SIM card is a good choice if you want a local eSIM and are prepared to go to a shop. Orange's eSIM FAQ states that new customers, existing customers and tourists are all eligible, which is more direct than anything we found from the other Egyptian carriers. What we did not find is a bundle designed for tourists.

What can a tourist buy from Orange Egypt?

On Orange's eSIM page (read 8 October 2026), the prices are EGP 350 for a new eSIM line and EGP 300 to move from a physical SIM to an eSIM or from one eSIM to another. Prepaid fees come out of the main balance. For a new line, the page says to visit an Orange shop. Existing customers can use the Orange Max it app.

The conditions worth knowing: your phone must support eSIM; a QR code can be used once only; a factory reset removes the eSIM and you need a shop visit for a new QR code; and a phone can hold up to 10 eSIM profiles, with two lines active at once depending on the device.

Orange's home page also lists tariff plans (Ogold, Premier, FREEmax, Alo and Kart El Kebir bundles) and a prepaid recharge by scratch card or credit card, but shows no prices there. We could not tell which, if any, suit a short visit.

Does Orange Egypt need a passport for the eSIM?

The page is not fully consistent. It says tourists are eligible, and separately that foreigners with valid residence can get an eSIM at an Orange shop. It lists no documents for a new eSIM line bought in a shop. Take your passport and ask which papers the shop will accept before queueing. The page's only document list is for converting a physical SIM in the app, which uses a national ID.

Orange Egypt coverage and 5G

The pages we read make no coverage or 5G claim, and show no tourist roaming details. Orange has an Egypt coverage map. Our own Egypt notes call Orange a strong competitor with tourist bundles and mention a 2025 5G launch, but we could not confirm either on Orange's site, so treat them as leads.

Orange Egypt eSIM versus a travel eSIM

An Orange eSIM needs a shop first, and the page says eSIM activation is by QR code from the shop. A travel eSIM can be installed before you land, with no queue. No travel eSIM provider except eSIMCard publishes its host network, so we do not say which uses Orange. Compare on the Egypt SIM card comparison and cheapest eSIM. Other operators: Vodafone Egypt, e& Egypt and WE. The Egypt hub lists the rest.
