Nomad in Denmark: buy the 20GB, buy the unlimited, buy nothing else

What we had wrong

An earlier version of this page said Nomad sold four Denmark plans, all on 30-day validity, and that nothing in our data was cheaper at any of those four sizes. It put the 5GB at $9 and the 50GB at $29.

None of those prices had ever been read off Nomad's own site. They have been now, on 18 August 2026, and the page was wrong in three separate ways. The prices were wrong: the 5GB is $12.50, the 20GB is $20 and the 50GB is $45. The range was wrong: Nomad sells ten Denmark plans, not four, including a 1GB and four unlimited tiers we said did not exist. And the conclusion was wrong: Nomad is not cheapest at every size, and at 50GB it is $10 dearer than Airalo.

Both the Nomad and the Airalo columns are verified figures read from those providers' own sites, so the comparisons above are between two checked numbers rather than a checked one and a hopeful one.

Where Nomad actually wins

Two places on the metered ladder, and one whole category.

20GB at $20 is the strongest buy Nomad has in Denmark. It undercuts Airalo at that size by seven dollars fifty — the widest gap either way on the Danish board — and at $1.00 a gigabyte it is close to the country's floor.

10GB at $16 beats Airalo's $17.50 by $1.50. Worth having, not worth restructuring a trip over.

Unlimited is the category Nomad quietly owns here, and the one this page previously said it did not sell at all. It is under Airalo at every shared duration: $11 against $11.50 for three days, $18 against $19.50 for five, $25 against $27 for seven, $33 against $35 for ten. Holafly's indicative $27.90 ten-day is lower than Nomad's $33, but nobody has read it off Holafly's checkout, and Nomad's has been read off Nomad's.

Where it loses

At 50GB, decisively. Nomad wants $45 where Airalo wants $35, and Airalo's $0.70 a gigabyte is the cheapest data in Denmark. If volume is what you are buying, do not buy it from Nomad here.

At 5GB, by a dollar fifty to Airalo. At 1GB by a hair to Saily, and at 3GB by a dollar now that Saily's month has been read off its own site at $7.99 rather than the $8.99 we used to carry. Airalo's 1GB/3-day at $4 and 3GB/7-day at $8 are the better shape for a long weekend anyway.

Where to sit on the ladder

The marginal arithmetic has inverted since we last published it. Stepping from 10GB to 20GB costs four dollars for ten extra gigabytes — 40 cents each, the best marginal rate in Nomad's Danish range. Stepping from 20GB to 50GB costs twenty-five dollars for thirty more, at 83 cents each, which is worse than simply buying Airalo's 50GB outright.

So the 20GB is the point where Nomad's pricing turns genuinely good, and it is also the point where it stops. If you are hesitating between 10GB and 20GB, take the 20GB.

Hotspot tethering is supported and draws from the same allowance. There are no calls or SMS; the plans are data only, which is fine for WhatsApp and the rest but means no Danish number.

The host network, and why we won't guess

Nomad does not publish a host network for Denmark. Neither does Airalo, and neither does Saily — the field is empty for all three in our data, and it is empty for Nomad in all 47 countries it covers. Holafly's own listing points at nothing either; the TDC, Telia and Telenor trio this page used to carry against it came from our own data rather than from Holafly.

That matters here more than it sounds. Danish coverage is strong across the mainland and the main islands, and Bornholm is well served, but there are known thin spots: remote Jutland heathland, some of the smaller islands, and parts of the Wadden Sea tidal flats. The Faroe Islands run on a separate network entirely and are not covered by a Denmark plan.

If your itinerary is Copenhagen, Aarhus and Odense, none of this will bite and the network question is academic. If you are walking the tidal flats or crossing the heath, the honest position is that no travel eSIM in this market will tell you which carrier you land on — so none of them, Nomad included, can be recommended on coverage grounds for that trip. A local SIM can, because you choose the carrier at the counter.

Against a Danish SIM, and against buying nothing

Start with the free option. Denmark is in the EU, so an EU or EEA phone plan roams at home rates here. Check your bundle's fair-use data cap and, if it is comfortable, buy nothing.

If that doesn't apply, a local prepaid starter runs about $13 at the airport, from TDC/YouSee, Telia, Telenor or 3. Danish registration rules require a passport or ID, so this is a staffed-counter purchase rather than something grabbed off a rack — budget the queue. Nomad's 3GB at $9 undercuts that starter price and skips the ID step, at the cost of the Danish number.

Verdict

Buy Nomad in Denmark for 10GB, for 20GB, or for unlimited data on any window up to ten days. At 20GB and on the unlimited tiers it is the best verified price in the country.

Do not buy it for 50GB, where Airalo is $10 cheaper, or for anything at or below 5GB, where Airalo and Saily are both ahead on price and Airalo is ahead on shape.
