Airalo in the UAE: every price on this page was wrong, and so was the advice

What we published, and what Airalo actually charges

This page used to quote seven Airalo plans for the United Arab Emirates. Not one of the prices was real. They came out of the generated corpus this site was built from, and nobody had ever checked them against Airalo's own listing.

All seventeen Airalo UAE plans have now been read off airalo.com. Here is the scale of the error.

Every figure in the middle column was between 23% and 31% below the truth. The unlimited month we listed at $55.00 is $102.50. The 3 GB month never existed at all.

We are leaving that table on the page rather than quietly swapping the numbers, because the size of the gap is the useful part. A reader who priced a UAE trip off this page last week was budgeting for roughly three quarters of what it costs, and for barely half of it on the unlimited month.

The verified ladder

Seventeen rows, read from Airalo's UAE page on 17 August 2026 — eleven metered, six unlimited. Airalo sells them under the retail name Burj Mobile. Prices in US dollars.

The unlimited plans, priced by window:

The 20 GB is the buy, not the 10 GB

The old recommendation was the 10 GB over 15 days, on the strength of $18.70 and $1.87 a gigabyte. Both numbers were invented. The plan is $27.00, which is $2.70 a gigabyte, and it is not the best rate on the ladder.

That rate belongs to the 20 GB over 15 days, at $47.00 — $2.35 a gigabyte, 13% better, and the cheapest gigabyte Airalo sells anywhere in the Emirates. If you are buying on unit price, that is the row.

The rest of the shape inverted too. We said the 15-day window was a $3.30 discount on the 30-day one; it is $1.50. We said the small plans were poor value; they are worse than that. The 1 GB is $6.00 for three days, six dollars a gigabyte, and three times the data on the same three-day window costs only $6.50 more.

What the correction did not change is where the ladder stops. The biggest metered UAE plan is 20 GB, and no seller in our data goes past it. That absence is most of the reason the Emirates is dear. In the countries that have a 50 GB month, that plan is where the cheap gigabytes live — Thailand's verified 50 GB is $27.50, or $0.55 a gigabyte. A UAE traveller pays $47.00 for 20 GB and cannot buy 50 at any price.

Unlimited got much harder to justify

At $55.00 the 30-day unlimited plan looked like the best unlimited deal in the country. At the real $102.50 it is $3.42 a day, and against Airalo's own metered floor it only pays if you would use more than about 43 GB in a month — more than twice the largest metered plan on sale here.

The short windows are easier to defend, though not by much. Seven days of unlimited is $39.00; ten gigabytes over the same seven days is $26.50. You are paying $12.50 for whatever you use beyond 10 GB, which is worth it only past roughly 16 GB in the week. A normal Emirates week does not come close: hotels, malls, restaurants and both major airports carry a large share of your traffic on their own wireless, leaving maps, ride-hailing, messaging and photo uploads on mobile.

Tethering a laptop through a working week changes that, and so does streaming in the evenings instead of using the hotel's connection. Those are the trips the unlimited rows are for.

The comparison we are not going to make

Airalo is the only UAE provider whose prices anyone has read. Saily, Nomad, Holafly and eSIMCard account for 22 further rows in our data, and all 22 came from the same generated corpus that had Airalo roughly a quarter to a third too cheap.

Those four look cheaper than Airalo at every metered size. So did Airalo, until someone checked. Ranking one read column against four unread ones is not a league table, and we are not going to print it as one — that would be repeating the exact mistake this page is correcting.

What we can say is narrower and firmer. At verified prices the UAE is an expensive market: $2.35 a gigabyte at best, against a median floor of $0.98 across the 94 countries we hold verified prices for, which puts the Emirates 75th of 94. That finding does not depend on anyone else's numbers.

The network Airalo does not publish

None of the seventeen verified rows names a host carrier, and that is not an omission in our data — Airalo does not publish the network its local eSIMs roam onto in any country we track. What it publishes is a retail product name applied at checkout. Burj Mobile is a brand, not an operator. This site once read names like that as carriers and had to correct dozens of pages.

The old version of this page mentioned Etisalat on two rows. That value came out of the same generated prose as the prices, it was never checked, and the verified data replaces it with nothing at all. Treat any claim about which UAE network Airalo uses as unsourced.

It costs a visitor little here. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah are 5G throughout, and the country is small and densely built. Coverage thins only in the Hajar Mountains — particularly the road tunnels on the Al Ain to Fujairah highway — and in deep desert away from settlements. Save offline maps if either is on your route.

Calling, and the verdict

UAE networks block calling over the internet by regulation: on a local Emirati line WhatsApp calls, FaceTime, Skype and Zoom audio do not connect, though WhatsApp text works normally. Travellers on international eSIMs widely report that calling goes through, and BOTIM and C'Me are the approved alternatives, but we have not tested it on Airalo and the company does not guarantee it. Buying the eSIM itself needs no paperwork; we hold no verified ID rule or local SIM price for the Emirates.

So: the 20 GB over 15 days at $47.00 if you want Airalo's best rate, the 10 GB over 7 days at $26.50 for a normal week, and nothing below 5 GB unless the trip is a layover. What we cannot tell you is whether Airalo is the cheapest seller in the UAE, because it is the only one anyone has checked.
