Saily in the UAE: the entry plan cost more than double what we printed

What this page used to claim, and how it turned out

An earlier version of this page ranked Saily against every rival at every size and concluded it was "second or third at all five". Those rankings were built on prices nobody had checked, so we withdrew them and said we would not compare a read column against unread ones.

That was the right call. The interesting part is that the reason we gave for it was wrong.

We argued that our unchecked corpus had understated Airalo's UAE prices by 23% to 31%, that Saily's figures came from the same corpus, and that Saily's apparent 20% to 33% discount was therefore probably the same error rather than a real saving. Saily's UAE prices were read off its own site on 18 August 2026. Here is how that prediction did.

So the corpus was not uniformly cheap. It was near-random: one row exact, three modestly too dear, and one wrong by more than double. The caution was justified; the theory behind it was not.

The 1 GB row is the instructive one. The corpus assumed Saily charges $3.99 for a first gigabyte everywhere. It does not. Saily's entry price is set per country and runs from $1.99 in Bulgaria, Austria and Czechia to $8.99 in Egypt, Morocco and the UAE. The Emirates sit at the top of that range, and we had them at the middle of it.

What Saily actually sells

The 1 GB plan is now the odd one out rather than the bargain entry: a single gigabyte for a dollar less than three gigabytes. Nobody should buy it. Step to the 3 GB month and you get three times the data for a dollar more and four times the validity.

The comparison we can finally make

Both of Saily's main rivals have been read at source too, so the ranking this page withheld can now be given.

Nomad is cheapest at every size, by 99 cents at 5 GB and by $4.99 at 20 GB. Saily is comfortably second, and comfortably below Airalo — its 20 GB is $14.51 under Airalo's, which is the largest gap between the two we hold anywhere.

At 1 GB the order changes: Nomad's $4 for seven days, then Airalo's $6 for three, then Saily's $8.99 for seven.

Where the shape of the plan still helps

Every Saily plan above 1 GB runs a full month, so nothing on this ladder can strand you mid-trip. That is worth something in a market where validity windows vary from three days to thirty at the same size — Airalo's 3 GB, for instance, runs three or seven days, not thirty.

The network line, and why we are not reasoning from it

Two of Saily's five UAE rows used to carry "du" in our data and the other three carried nothing. A value that appears on the two cheapest rows of a ladder and vanishes from the rest of it was always suspect, and reading Saily's own pages settled it: Saily names no carrier for the UAE or for any of the countries it sells in. The "du" was ours, not Saily's.

We are also not going to mark Saily up or down on which UAE operator it might use, because we cannot establish that it uses either. Coverage is a weak axis to choose on here in any case. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah are 5G throughout. The signal thins in the Hajar Mountains — the road tunnels on the Al Ain to Fujairah highway in particular — and in deep desert away from settlements. Save offline maps if either is on your route.

Before you buy

Saily's UAE plans are data-only: no calls, no SMS, no local number. Keep your home SIM reachable if a bank might text you a code.

Calling is the Emirates' genuine quirk. UAE networks block calls made over the internet by regulation — WhatsApp calls, FaceTime, Skype and Zoom audio — while WhatsApp text messaging works normally. Travellers using international eSIMs generally report that calling goes through, and BOTIM and C'Me are the government-approved alternatives, but we have not tested this on Saily. If calling home is part of the trip, ask before you pay.

Verdict

Saily is the second-cheapest metered seller in the UAE at every size from 3 GB up, behind Nomad by a dollar or so and ahead of Airalo by a lot. At 1 GB it is the most expensive of the three and should be skipped.
