Holafly in the UAE: the rows we held describe plans it does not sell

The seven rows are gone, and this is why

On 18 August 2026 we read Holafly's own site in a browser and recorded verified prices for 44 countries — 264 rows in all. The United Arab Emirates was the only country in our Holafly data not among them.

The reason is unusual enough to state plainly. Holafly appears to have no UAE country page: the URL where one would sit does not return a product listing at all, it redirects to an image. What does exist is /esim-dubai/, a city page, which is how Holafly seems to sell its Emirati product. Mapping a city page onto a country would be an inference rather than a read, so we did not do it.

That left seven UAE rows unread. They have now been withdrawn altogether, and the reason is stronger than "unread".

In all 44 countries we have read, Holafly sells exactly six windows: 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 days. Nothing else, anywhere. Our UAE set contained a one-day plan and a twenty-day plan, and contained no thirty-day plan at all. Those are not prices that might be a little stale. They are descriptions of products that do not exist.

The one-day and twenty-day rows are also exactly the phantom durations the original corpus invented elsewhere: one-day Holafly plans in a dozen countries, twenty-day plans in Denmark and Norway, twenty-five-day plans across half of Europe and ninety-day plans in Britain. Not one of them exists. So the UAE rows are out of the table on this page and out of every ranking on this site.

What the 44-country read tells you

It tells you the direction of the error as well as its shape. In every country we checked, the corpus had Holafly cheaper than it is: Denmark's month by $14, New Zealand's by $26.90, India's and South Africa's by $37. Once the real figures were in, Holafly went from looking like the cheap route to uncapped data to being the most expensive uncapped seller in the large majority of markets.

Whatever Holafly charges in the Emirates, then, the safe assumption is that it is more than our old rows suggested — not less.

What you can buy instead, on prices we have read

Both Nomad and Airalo sell unlimited data in the Emirates, and both were read at source on 17 August 2026.

Nomad is the cheapest uncapped seller in the UAE at every length it covers, by a wide margin over Airalo.

This page previously said two things that were simply wrong and have been withdrawn: that nobody else sold unlimited UAE data in windows under 30 days, and that a rival's 30-day unlimited cost $55. Airalo sells six unlimited windows and its month is $102.50.

When unlimited makes sense at all

That part does not depend on which seller you pick.

The best verified metered rate in the Emirates is Nomad's 20GB month at $29 — $1.45 a gigabyte — with its 10GB month at $18.50 the cheapest ten gigabytes in the country. At that rate, a week of uncapped data at around $27 would be worth paying only if you would otherwise have used something like nineteen gigabytes across the seven days, close to three a day.

That is a lot for the UAE. Hotels, malls, restaurants, museums and both major airports carry your traffic on their own wireless, and the gaps between them are short. What actually runs over mobile data is maps, ride-hailing, messaging, some browsing and photos syncing. For most visitors that is a few gigabytes across the whole week.

Three gigabytes a day is realistic if you are on video calls daily or streaming in the evenings instead of using the hotel's connection. If that is your trip, uncapped is the rational shape of purchase — and Nomad's verified $27 for seven days is where we would start.

Tethering, network and the verdict

Check the tethering line yourself at checkout. The listing we inherited says hotspot use is supported on Holafly's UAE plans; we did not write that, have not confirmed it, and Holafly blocks tethering in a great many of the countries we have read. Unlimited data with tethering blocked is a much narrower product than it appears — it covers your phone and nothing else, which removes the main reason a working traveller buys it.

On the host network we have nothing usable. Two of Holafly's seven UAE rows used to carry "Etisalat" in our data and the other five carried nothing; that split was the clue, and reading Holafly's site for 44 other countries confirmed it — the company names no operator anywhere, so the entry was ours rather than the seller's. It matters little in practice: Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah are 5G throughout, and coverage only thins in the Hajar Mountains — the road tunnels on the Al Ain to Fujairah highway in particular — and in deep desert away from settlements.

One UAE quirk is worth knowing. Local networks block calling over the internet by regulation: WhatsApp calls, FaceTime, Skype and Zoom audio do not work on a local Emirati line, though WhatsApp text does. Travellers on international eSIMs generally report calling works, and BOTIM and C'Me are the approved alternatives, but we have not tested it on Holafly.

The verdict. We hold no Holafly price for the UAE and will not print one. The rows we used to show did not describe Holafly's product; they described windows it does not sell. What we can say is that the cheapest verified uncapped plans in the Emirates come from Nomad — $12, $18, $27 and $34 for three, five, seven and ten days.
