Holafly in Switzerland: beaten at every length, by 40 to 90 cents

Unlimited or nothing

Holafly does not sell a gigabyte allowance in Switzerland. It sells time. Six durations, unlimited data on each, read off Holafly's own site on 18 August 2026.

A correction, and it removes this page's one clear recommendation. We previously listed a Swiss one-day plan at $3.90 and called it Holafly's clearest win in the country — the correct purchase for a Zurich layover, with nothing else in our data competing. There is no one-day plan. Holafly sells 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 days in every country, and its shortest Swiss window is three days at $11.90. For a layover, Airalo's verified 1GB over three days at $4 is the sensible buy instead.

The rest of the old table was wrong in the other direction: it showed Holafly $1.50 to $6.90 above Airalo. The real gaps are 40 to 90 cents. Switzerland is one of Holafly's cheaper markets — $68.90 for a month against $73.90 across most of Europe — and the ladder tracks Airalo's almost exactly.

Our older text also said hotspot tethering was supported on every Swiss plan. That came from the same generated dataset as the wrong prices, and Holafly blocks tethering in many countries, so read the terms before you rely on it.

Do you actually need unlimited here?

Usually not, and Switzerland is a good place to check the arithmetic. Nomad's verified 10GB month is $20.50 and Airalo's verified 10GB / 7 days is $21.50, both under Holafly's week by four dollars or more. Ten gigabytes covers a week of maps, messaging, photo uploads and a reasonable amount of browsing for most travellers. You would need to be streaming or tethering a laptop daily to run through it. At the top end, Nomad's verified 50GB month is $43 and Airalo's is $45, against $68.90 for thirty uncapped days.

Where unlimited earns its money is the trip with no wi-fi to fall back on: a driving route through the passes, ski days where the phone is doing navigation and weather all afternoon, or work done from trains. Swiss trains are long and the scenery encourages exactly the sort of use that empties an allowance.

There is also a psychological argument, and it is legitimate. Not counting is worth something. It just costs 40 to 90 cents more than the same not-counting from Airalo, on numbers we have read at source for both.

The three-carrier claim

Holafly's own material lists no carrier for Switzerland. Every network value in our data came from older generated prose rather than from a provider's site, and reading Holafly's pages confirmed the point: it names no operator for Switzerland, or for any of the countries we checked, so the Swisscom, Sunrise and Salt trio this page used to show was ours. Airalo, Saily and Nomad name no operator anywhere either, which leaves eSIMCard's listing as the only one in this market — and we have never verified a price for eSIMCard, so we cannot check it in either direction.

We flag it because if it were true it would matter here more than in most countries. Swiss coverage is not uniform: it thins on high-altitude runs and off-piste terrain above 3,000 m, drops out above certain altitudes near the Matterhorn summit, and disappears on remote hiking trails. A plan with access to all three national networks would hold signal in places a single-network plan would not.

But we cannot stand behind it, so we will not build a recommendation on it. If alpine coverage is the thing you actually need, buy a local prepaid SIM instead — around $20 at the airport, no ID required, and you choose between Swisscom, Sunrise and Salt Mobile yourself at the counter.

Verdict

The layover case has gone with the one-day plan. What is left is a ladder that shadows Airalo's from 40 to 90 cents above it, at every length, with a tethering policy we cannot confirm against a rival that has no such doubt attached.

Those are small margins, and if you prefer Holafly's app you are not being badly served in Switzerland — this is one of its better-priced markets. But there is no length at which it is the cheapest uncapped plan, and if your usage is ordinary, Nomad's verified 10GB month at $20.50 does the job for less than Holafly's five days.
