Nomad in Switzerland: cheapest metered plan in the country, at four sizes

Ten plans, read off Nomad's own Swiss checkout on 17 August 2026. Six metered, four uncapped. Hotspot tethering works on all of them; none carries calls or SMS.

The uncapped plans are $11 for three days, $18 for five, $25 for seven and $33 for ten.

The correction

This page previously described a four-plan range at $5, $14, $22 and $33, with no 50GB option and nothing uncapped. Those prices were held in our dataset rather than read from Nomad, and every one of them was too high. The range is also twice the size we said it was, and the 50GB plan we told readers did not exist is the cheapest data in the country.

Cheapest at four sizes, and by a wide margin at one

Nomad is the cheapest metered plan we hold for Switzerland at 5, 10, 20 and 50 GB. At 5GB it is $12.50 against Airalo's verified $14 and Saily's verified $13.99. At 10GB it is $20.50 against $23 and $22.99. At 50GB it is $43 against Airalo's $45, which makes 86 cents a gigabyte the floor rate for the country.

The 20GB row is the one worth stopping on. At $25 it is eleven dollars under Airalo's verified $36 and nearly twelve under Saily's $36.99, for the same allowance over the same month. That is the largest gap between sellers at any size in our Swiss data, and Switzerland is an expensive enough market for it to matter.

Airalo keeps two advantages. It sells shorter windows — 5GB over 7 days at $13, 10GB over 7 days at $21.50, 20GB over 15 days at $34.50 — so a three-day trip can buy three days. And its uncapped ladder runs to 15 and 30 days where Nomad's stops at ten.

The entry plan is still the weak point

One gigabyte over seven days for $4.50 is the dearest verified 1GB in our Switzerland data. Saily sells the same size over the same seven days at a verified $3.99 — fifty-one cents less on identical terms. Holafly's indicative unlimited single day is $3.90, which for a stopover beats a gigabyte outright.

That said, the old version of this page had Nomad's entry plan at $5 and called it a dollar adrift. Fifty-one cents is a narrower miss, and the 3GB month at $9 is a better answer than any 1GB plan for a weekend that runs past two days.

Uncapped, level with Airalo

Nomad's four uncapped plans are $11, $18, $25 and $33 for three, five, seven and ten days. Airalo's verified equivalents are $11.50, $18, $25 and $34 — so Nomad is fifty cents cheaper at three days, a dollar cheaper at ten, and identical in between. Holafly's verified plans are dearer at every length except the single day it alone sells, at $3.90.

Networks, and what that means above the treeline

Nomad publishes no host network for Switzerland, or for any other country. An earlier version of this page said our data carried a Swisscom and Sunrise listing against two of its Swiss plans and nothing against the other two, and treated the inconsistency as a sign the field was unreliable. It was: the values came from older generated prose rather than from Nomad, and they have been removed.

That is a sharper limitation in Switzerland than in most countries. Coverage here is not uniform — it thins on high-altitude runs and off-piste terrain above 3,000 m, drops out above certain altitudes near the Matterhorn summit, and vanishes on remote hiking trails. Which network you sit on decides what happens in those places, and no travel eSIM in this market will tell you before you pay. Airalo, Saily and Holafly publish nothing either — the Swiss operators once credited to Holafly came from our own data — and we hold no read of eSIMCard's Swiss listing.

If the mountains are the trip, buy a local prepaid SIM instead: about $20 at the airport, no ID required, sold by Swisscom, Sunrise and Salt Mobile, and you choose the operator at the counter.

Verdict

Nomad is the price pick for Switzerland at almost every size a visitor buys. The 10GB at $20.50 covers a normal week or fortnight; the 20GB at $25 is the outstanding buy on the page for two people or a laptop; the 50GB at $43 is the cheapest gigabyte in the country. Buy Airalo instead if you want a validity window shorter than a month, Saily if you want a single gigabyte, and a local SIM if what you need is a network guarantee in the Alps.
