Airalo in Slovenia: the best big plan, beaten in the middle

Airalo has the deepest Slovenia range we hold — twelve capped plans and six unlimited — and all of it was checked against Airalo's own site on 13 August 2026. Nomad's Slovenia prices have since been checked too, on 17 August 2026, so the comparisons below set one read price against another. Only the Saily and Holafly figures on this page remain unchecked.

The shape is worth reading before the individual rows. Slovenia's cheapest gigabyte is not in a small plan — it is at the very top, where 50GB over a month costs $42. At $0.84 per GB that is nearly five times better value than the entry-level plan, and it is the cheapest data in the country from anyone. It also costs less than Airalo's own 30-day unlimited, which is the honest ceiling for almost every traveller.

As elsewhere, duration is nearly free. 5GB is $12 over seven days and $13 over thirty; 10GB is $18 over seven and $19 over thirty. A dollar buys three extra weeks of headroom. Never buy the short window.

Where Airalo loses

It loses in the middle of the range, and by more than this page used to report. Nomad's 10GB over 30 days is $16 against Airalo's $19 — a three-dollar gap on the size most two-week visitors actually want, not the five dollars an earlier version of this page claimed, because Nomad charges $16 rather than the $14 we then held. Saily's 5GB over 30 days is $12.99, a cent under Airalo and a rounding error rather than a reason; Nomad's is $12.50.

The bigger loss is one this page missed entirely. At 20GB over 30 days Airalo charges $34 and Nomad charges $20. That is a fourteen-dollar gap and the widest in the Slovenian market, and an earlier version of this page said no other provider sold a capped plan that large here. Nomad does.

Airalo does keep the top. Its 50GB month at $42 is 84 cents a gigabyte against Nomad's $45 and 90 cents, so the cheapest data in the country is still Airalo's — but by three dollars rather than by default.

So the split is clean. Under 3GB, Saily's $3.99 for 1GB over a week beats Airalo's three-day-only $4, and Airalo's 3GB at $7 for three days beats Nomad's $9 month. Between 5GB and 20GB, price Nomad first. At 50GB, Airalo. All of those figures have now been read at the sellers' own checkouts except Saily's.

Unlimited, priced better than usual

Airalo's Slovenian unlimited runs $11.50 for three days, $18.50 for five, $27 for seven, $32 for ten, $45 for fifteen and $69 for thirty. That is unusually sharp for Airalo. It undercuts Holafly's verified $20.50 for five days and $36.50 for ten, which is not how this comparison normally goes — in most countries Holafly's unlimited is the cheaper of the two by a distance. Nomad now undercuts Airalo below ten days, though, on verified prices: $11, $18 and $25 at three, five and seven days. At ten days Airalo's $32 is a dollar under Nomad's $33, and above ten days Airalo is the only seller.

There is also a quirk at the bottom worth exploiting: three days of unlimited at $11.50 costs less than 5GB over seven days at $12. If your trip is a short, heavy weekend in Ljubljana, the unlimited plan is the better buy on price alone.

Above ten days, though, look back at the capped table. $42 for 50GB over a month beats $69 for unlimited over the same month unless you genuinely expect to move more than a gigabyte and a half a day.

Živjo is a product name, not a network

Airalo sells its Slovenia plans under the label Živjo at checkout. That is Airalo's own retail branding for the country, in the way its other local eSIMs carry local-sounding names. It is not a carrier, and you should not read it as one.

Airalo does not publish a host network for Slovenia, or for anywhere else. We hold nothing on which Slovenian operator its plans roam onto, so nothing on this page rests on coverage being better or worse than a rival's. That matters here because Slovenia's dead spots are specific and mountainous: the Triglav summit area has dead zones at ridge altitude, remote valley trails far from roads drop out, and the show caves at Postojna and Škocjan have no signal underground. No eSIM in our data can be recommended as the fix for any of them.

Whether you need to buy at all

Slovenia is in the EU, so if you already hold an EU or EEA SIM, roam-like-at-home rules mean your normal allowance travels with you and buying anything is money wasted. Check your bundle's fair-use limit and stop reading.

Everyone else is choosing between an Airalo plan and a local prepaid SIM at around $12 from the airport, sold by A1 Slovenija, Telekom Slovenije or Telemach. The local SIM is cheaper than most of the table above and comes with a Slovenian number; it also requires a passport or ID at registration, where an eSIM requires none.
