Saily in Slovenia: the cheapest way in, and nothing above 5GB

Three plans, and a hard stop at 5GB

Every one of those prices is indicative — our dataset rather than a reading of Saily's own checkout — so confirm before paying. The Airalo figures on this page are different in kind: they were read off Airalo's site on 13 August 2026, which makes them the sturdier numbers whenever the two disagree.

The shape matters more than any single price. Saily's Slovenia range covers small and medium, and then ends. There is no 10GB plan, no 20GB, nothing unlimited. For a city break that is irrelevant. For anything data-hungry it rules Saily out before the comparison starts.

The entry plan is the genuinely good one

$3.99 for 1GB over seven days is the lowest price of admission in our Slovenia data. The nearest thing to it is Airalo's Živjo 1GB at a verified $4 — a cent dearer, and valid for three days rather than seven. If all you need is maps, messaging and a boarding pass for a long weekend in Ljubljana and Lake Bled, that extra headroom on validity is worth more than the cent.

It is a small win, but it is a real one, and it is the only place in the range where Saily is clearly first.

The middle is a coin-flip, and the coin is weighted

At 5GB over 30 days, Saily is $12.99. Airalo's Živjo package sells 5GB over the same 30 days at a verified $13. One cent apart, for the same allowance over the same period.

When two prices are that close, the tie-breaker is not the price. It is that one of them has been checked and the other has not. Ours for Airalo came from the seller's own page; ours for Saily did not. That is not an accusation about Saily — it is simply where our confidence sits, and at a one-cent gap it decides the question.

The 3GB plan is a weaker proposition again. At $8.99 for 30 days it is more expensive than Airalo's verified 3GB over seven days at $8, so you are paying a dollar for validity you may not need, and it costs $3.00 a gigabyte against $2.60 on Saily's own 5GB plan one step up. If you were going to buy the 3GB, buy the 5GB.

Where Saily is simply absent

Above 5GB there is no Saily plan at all, and the Slovenia market above that line is where the value actually is.

• 10GB over 30 days: Nomad at a verified $16, or Airalo at a verified $19.
• 20GB over 30 days: Nomad at a verified $20 — a dollar a gigabyte — against Airalo's verified $34.
• 50GB over 30 days: Airalo at a verified $42 — 84 cents a gigabyte, the cheapest data in the country.
• Unlimited: Airalo's verified plans start at $11.50 for three days; Holafly's start at an indicative $19 for five days.

If you are staying a fortnight, working remotely, or tethering a laptop, none of that is a Saily conversation. Buy elsewhere.

Network and coverage

Our record used to list A1 / Telekom against Saily's Slovenia plans. That was an error in our data: Saily publishes no host network, in Slovenia or anywhere, and neither do Airalo or Nomad. There is no like-for-like network comparison to be had here at all.

What holds regardless of provider is where Slovenian signal fails: the Triglav summit area at 2,864 metres has dead zones at ridge altitude, remote hiking valleys away from roads can drop out entirely, and the Postojna and Škocjan cave systems have nothing underground. No eSIM fixes any of that.

Saily supports hotspot tethering in Slovenia. Like every travel eSIM here it is data only, so you get no Slovenian number and no SMS codes.

The alternatives worth weighing

If your usual SIM is from an EU or EEA country, Slovenia is inside the roam-like-at-home zone and you should very likely buy nothing at all. Check your fair-use data cap and stop reading.

Otherwise, a local prepaid SIM from A1 Slovenija, Telekom Slovenije or Telemach runs about $12 at the airport. That is close to Saily's 5GB price, but registration needs a passport or national ID — a counter, a queue and a form after a flight. The eSIM's advantage over the local SIM in Slovenia is convenience, not money.

Verdict

Buy the $3.99 1GB plan for a short, light trip; it is the cheapest entry into Slovenia we hold and the seven-day window beats Airalo's three. Ignore the 3GB.
